My 6 year old loves it! It is very basic, and only teaches the location of the notes on the piano, and their names. Does not teach reading music, which includes the timing, quarter notes, half notes, etc. For this reason, sometimes the songs do not sound right even though the right notes are played. No need for the child to read, it is color coded along with the the letters so even a very young child should be able to determine the correct notes based on the color. I do recommend this book if your child is not familiar at all with the keyboard, otherwise, stick with a primer level piano course book.
