Book Reviews of I Am More Than My Infertility

Book Review: Real answers for more than just fertility issues
Summary: 5 Stars

There is a lot of media hype about fertility issues right now; I think it can be really difficult to find helpful advice. I was really surprised to discover this book not only applies to working through fertility struggles, but many different things. Even my husband read it and actually started using some of the practical steps! I also think it is a very peaceful, encouraging read. It can help you create some sanctuary in the midst of a hectic or frustrating season of your life. I highly recommend it!

Book Review: Very empowering
Summary: 5 Stars

I am an acupuncturist that specializes in infertility and I love this book! I have read many books on infertility and many of them leave women (and men) feeling disconnected and uninspired. This book has very practical tools and inspires us to see all of life as divinely ordered. This book is for the person who is willing to let go of being the victim of any situation, and truly open up to embracing all of life.
What a wonderful opportunity!

Book Review: Powerful resource..for the powerless
Summary: 5 Stars

What a practical, power giving book full of real life ideas for those who feel powerless. I heartily recommend this book to anyone struggling with infertility or to anyone who loves someone who is struggling with infertility. I agree with the review above........a good read for anyone who wants to live well no matter the circumstances.

Book Review: So much more than infertility!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a self-help book with such well developed sensitive strategies that every woman and man will find in it a bridge to understanding ... and the coping skills that make today brighter than yesterday.

Book Review: Take Back Your Power to Choose
Summary: 4 Stars

This book is a different kind of infertility book. It is not going to tell you how to solve the medical aspect of infertility. It is about coping with infertility so that you can be whole and define yourself and your life beyond the limiting label of "infertile". The authors express the purpose of the book clearly in this passage of the introduction:

"When fertility issues create...a barricade, you have very few choices. You can screech to a halt, cowering behind this obstacle in depression and self-blame. You can beat your head against it in frustration. Or you can....find a way to dismantle the barrier, brick by brick" (p.4).

The authors present seven "power tools" that detail the coping skills that will help you face your infertility:
1. Take care of your body
2. Make conscious choices
3. Set healthy boundaries
4. Tell the truth
5. Take quiet space
6. Give yourself permission to grieve
7. See the big picture

My husband and I were diagnosed with unexplained infertility and struggled for four years before we finally became pregnant with our beautiful daughter through IVF. There was tremendous grief during that journey. We also lost three sons in failed adoptions. This book provided practical advice and tangible actions I could take to renew my freedom to choose.

For a christian book on this topic that is comforting, empathetic, and inspirational I HIGHLY recommend Hannah's Hope by Jennifer Saake!Hannah's Hope: Seeking God's Heart in the Midst of Infertility, Miscarriage, and Adoption Loss
