Book Review: You will be mad as Hell (when you read this book)!!

Dr. Starr returns to the essence of medicine: Listening to what the patient has to say and looking at the patient and finding evidence to make the diagnosis. He pays great homage to the early pioneers in thyroidology, referencing their publications and insights, and provides photographs clearly showing the physical consequences when thyroid hormones, despite "normal" laboratory tests, are not working. At last, someone has stepped up to the plate and decried the medical profession's reliance, no, blind faith, in third-party medicine (blood, spit, urine lab tests). Skepticism helped medicine leap forward centuries ago. Dr. Staar's excellent book brings it on. After reading this book, you will know, you, or someone dear to you, will have some expression of hypothyroidism type 2 (thyroid hormone resistance syndrome). His book will empower you to seek, no, insist, on getting the proper treatment. Dr. Staar's assessment that this is an epidemic is true. If you are like me, never feeling "right" on your synthetic Thyroid hormone (mine was Synthroid) but your doctor insisting that your "levels are in the normal range" you MUST read this book. YOU ARE NOT CRAZY! Your blood tests can be normal, yet you are gaining weight, your hair is falling out by the handfuls and you are tired all the time. Get some help from an MD who will LISTEN to you and take you seriously instead of sounding like a broken record (your levels are in the normal range, your levels are in the normal range, blah blah blah). I told my doc if she didn't put me on the natural hormone I was leaving her. She did it against her better judgment and guess what? I feel a hundred times better and my levels are normal. Not that I put any credibility in those, but it makes her happy (I guess) even though she is still mad at me. I don't care. It's my health, not hers. This book can change your life if you are willing to stand up for your well-being. Buy this book, I can't recommend it enough.Book Review: Right on Target

I have traveled from Florida to see Dr. Starr and will continue to do so because he is right on target with my diagnosis and treatment. His book shows how this problem is an epidemic and is being totally ignored. When blood tests actually do show a problem it is being ineffectively treated, which I can attest to. Now that I understand the issues I can better deal with my health problems that grow less and less each day. I've sent my mother and my sister to see Dr. Starr. His claim that this disease runs in families is true in my case as well. I'm the fourth generation with thyroid problems. I finally feel as if I have found a health practitioner that truly understands my problems.
If anyone has any doubt that hypothyroidism is not an epidemic, or you want to convince your doctor to listen to you, please run out and buy this book. It will make you understand the issues and the interactions with heart disease, diabetes, obesity and many others.
Book Review: Most Comprehensive Work - amazing before and after photos

Finally! I've been looking for a book written by a MEDICAL professional on this topic. Very complete - before and after photos from the the last century are AMAZING. I'm 47 and I've been sick for 10 years. Each and every Doc - 5 total (2 FP's, OB-Gyn, GI, Endo, finally diagnosed by a Urologist-after 2 years of care) told me that my thyroid tests did not warrant medication - even though EVERY person in my family is hypothyroid. This book describes what has changed in the last 40 years of medicine and WHY very competent Docs are missing this! My hubby is one of them. Hypothyroidism is at the root of many of our chronic illnesses and yet it is NOT fully covered in any of the current medical literature. Talk about the need for health care reform! Start by treating the underlying cause of most of our chronic diseases with a very inexpensive drug - T4 & T3. Watch the Rx lobby squirm. Great book. Dr.Mark Starr got my attention,listeningto his talk some time back on "COAST TO COST",the George Noory show.
He made it quiet clear how todays medical profession lacks the knowledge to properly diagnose"Hypothyroidsm Type 2."
As a hairstylist by trade I have,and still am,witnessed many cases of my customers suffering from some kind of thyroid desease or other,and NEVER getting the proper cure from their physicians,by just having "their blood" checked,and thus NOT getting the right amount of medicine their bodies need ,and to promote their bodies ability to get back to normal functioning.Very sad indeed!
Dr.Mark makes it succinctly clear the steps todays doctors will have to take to BANISH these thyroid
malfunctions,and thus CURE "all" of their patients,to enable them to lead normal,productive lives.
This book is easy to read and understand by any layman.
