I use hydrogen peroxide every day now because when I stopped using it to brush my teeth, my gums became infected, tender and very painful. This was facilitated because I had a root canal about 5-6 years ago and there is a gap at the gum line between the crown and my gums (I'm told this is very common). A so-called "holistic" dentist wanted to charge me over $3,000 to put in a new filler or crown and to clean my teeth - I said no thanks!
I knew the benefits of hydrogen peroxide for years because my first dentist recommended a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda for healthy gums. In fact, he kept a microscope on hand to show his new patients the dramatic benefits to their teeth and gums, of using this mixture.
If I had remained faithful to the routine of using H2O2 I believe I would never have developed gum disease. Unfortunately, I stopped using it. It took several weeks of rinsing and gargling with the 3% solution (full strength) and brushing with the mixture described above (I also use sea salt now), but my gums look and feel healthy and my teeth are whiter now several months later. The cure is simple, almost miraculous and the soothing and gentle natural healing effect is amazing on the discomfort of a toothache or gum tenderness. I will never stop my routine of using H2O2 again!
I do have a mouth full of silver because gum disease runs in the family on both my mother and father's side and seems to be hereditary; and of course because bad habits (like not brushing and flossing consistently, an unhealthy diet) seem to also be hereditary! By the way, using a toothpick after every meal is also a good tool in stopping and preventing gum disease.
I feel that the health benefits of using the H2O2 solution even with my mouthful of mercury fillings far outweigh the risk; besides I don't swallow it!
I read Dr. Douglass' book very carefully and I plan to use H2O2 orally to try to resolve my issue of uterine fibroids. I want to do this successfully so there are real preparations to be made in advance. 1) According to the book it is better to do this on an empty stomach because of the risks associated with H2O2 combining with the fats and other organic elements from a meal once it gets into the stomach. 2) I have to start out slowly and build up to 20 drops a day 3 times a day or more if I find it tolerable. 3) I can use the 3% hydrogen peroxide available at any drug store - - no need to buy the so-called "food grade" hydrogen peroxide".
