Book Review: Above the basics

Just purchased a djembe and wanted some guidelines. The CD is very good. It is very helpful the way they isolated the tracks so that you can hear it seperately and with another part. The charts in the book look intimidating. For me, hearing the samples was easier than reading the music and putting it to the drum. The CD is good listening even if your not playing along. A bit above the basics but that is the only way you'll learn.Book Review: Solid lessons for beginners

This book teaches you the basics of Djembe drumming. The book includes a great sounding CD to play along with. However; the authors should have included more complex patterns and rhythms. The practice CD that comes with the book is a helpful device.

I wish this was a dvd as the cd just left me cold. I didn't like just audio instruction even tho the book was there. I will probably go to a drum group to learn "how to". I didn't realize that I would need the visual aspect so much. I am sure for an audio learner this would be fine.
