Book Review: Great anatomy reference! ...with some weirdness :0

The 5 stars is for the actual anatomy content, which is very good. Lots of diagrams and a complete overview on comic/manga style anatomy, which is what this book is meant for. Although its not perfect there is some weirdness going on. But for the anatomy part, its superb. Understand its a book for drawing the body not to teach you how to make action poses.
This book goes through each part of the anatomy and diagrams the muscles to give you a better understanding of the whole body structure, and it does a great job of it. There are some nude drawings (no photos) of the female model. Which is something I expect from anatomy studies. Nude models are a part of every serious artistic anatomy book. So it may not be for young kids, but for any serious comic/manga artists it shouldn't be a problem.
Now for the weirdness... Like I said the female is nude but the male drawings always have underwear on. I don't know what the deal with this is but I'm guessing its a reflection on Japanese society on how they approach these things. Also I have to admit its a bit sexist in this and as with some of the diagrams. Also the second part of the book all the drawings of the people don't have any eyes. They have noses and mouths but not eyes! Really weird. The people look like aliens! For cryin' out loud couldn't they just have put the eyes in instead of making it look so weird?!?! Still even with this, I give it 5 stars because the anatomy presentation is superb.
