Book Reviews of How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?

Book Review: for parents of little dinosaurs as well as sleepy children
Summary: 5 Stars

You probably know all the tricks these little dinosaurs get up to in order to avoid going to sleep if your kids are anything like mine. Children of 3+ shriek with delight at seeing both gentle and dangerous dinosaurs ROAR, bounce about, demand one more story etc. when mother and father try to put them to bed. But of course, this isn't how little dinosaurs behave at all... The rhyming couplets are irresistibly funny, and the pictures stupendous. Any child afraid of monsters will be reassured by seeing them depicted in this way. Alongside Jeanne Willis's classic, The Monster Bed, and Debi Gliori's A Lion at Bed-time, this is a perfect way to get a child to sleep. Just bew warned though - they'll want to play at being dinosaurs first.

Book Review: My 18 month old son loves to read this book
Summary: 5 Stars

When I saw this book in the store I knew it would be something my 18 month old son would love. He had just begun to try to say dinosaur and would roar would like one, too. So I thought the timing was right to continue to develop his interest in them. He loves the story, especially as it gets toward the end with the kisses, turning out the light, a hug and a kiss again. And when the dinosaur finally goes off to sleep we pretend to be dinosaurs snoring (roaring). He usually asks for it to be read 3 times and then he climbs into his bead without any further coaxing and goes off to sleep. He learns from the dinosaur's example. This is a fantastic book if your child likes dinosaurs or would like to learn more about them.

Book Review: Beautiful book!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a 3 year old who loves Dinosaurs.

Here we have monsters juxtaposed with moms who are not the least bit phased by the drama of they're sleepless dinosaur babies.

Each 2 page spread has a different dinosaur who refuses to go to sleep accompanied by a short paragragh whimsically describing their behavior.

The scale of the creatures is emphasized by dramatic, wonderfully illustrated, slightly distorted perspective and by filling the spread which creates the sense of an entire room across the 2 pages.

There's a playful rhythm that carries from page to page and a sweet ending.

I'm asked to read it again and again and enjoy every minute!

Book Review: What's not to love??
Summary: 5 Stars

Although it's obvious from the number of positive reviews, I have to say that this book is wonderful! This became my son's favorite book when he was 2 years old. It's the type of book we read so many times that we both knew the words by heart. (I didn't even need the pictures!) Two years later it's no longer his favorite book, however he still loves it, despite the fact that it is falling apart, and he asks for it frequently. At 4, he is now asking "What kind of dinosaur is that?" so I love that the name of each dinosaur is incorporated into the illustrations. I would definitely recommend this book to any young dinosaur lover, especially those that need encouragement with their bedtime behavior.

Book Review: Time for bed.
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great goodnight story. Especially if you have a little one who tends to fight going to bed tooth and nail. It is perfect for dinosaur lovers and their parents. It has wonderful drawings of dinosaurs and includes their proper names hidden within the picture. Finally, I don't have to make up names for obscure dinos I don't know.

This is a good conversation starter. With ever scenerio where the dinosaur does something naughty there is a perfect opening to discuss the right way to go to bed. I like how all the bad behavior is at the beginning and the positive behavior is at the end. It teaches a lesson without being preachy or condescending to the children.
