Book Reviews of How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?

Book Review: AWESOME! Daughter can't go to bed without reading this book
Summary: 5 Stars

This book has so many attributes that it is hard to get them all in. We use it for many different things as we slip off to bed. We review the steps of getting ready for bed as we see the dinosaur in the bath tub and ask, "Let's see, did you take your bath?"...then dinosaur with his blanky heading off to bed, "do you have your blanky?".

After reading the text of the book (which is an absolute joy as we stomp and ROAR and mope and moan at appropriate times and hugging and kissing at the end), we review the activities of the dinosaurs on the back inside cover (and front too). We ask, "which dinosaur has a train?, Which donosaur is sleeping?, etc.". Great to get their little minds recognizing and identifying different activities.

Would recommend this book to anyone and everyone - would be a great gift item as well.

Book Review: Dinosaur Roar
Summary: 5 Stars

What a wonderful "party" before bed. Although it certainly doesn't calm my children before bed, at least it makes the process more fun. We read it every single night and act out every single page (stomp our feet, hug and kiss... my daughter instructs me to cover my ears so that her ROAR won't hurt my ears). The illustrations are beautiful, colorful and funny. Tiny frustrated (and helpless) parents trying to cajole their giant dinosaurs into bed- tell me your kids don't seem especially large and ferocious at bed time. At the picture of Papa shrugging helplessly towards Mama, my daughter and son both say, "Mama, I don't know how to fix that dinosaur for bed!" Best of all, even if bed time is still a struggle, we can all have a good laugh. So snuggle up with your dinosaurs and get ready for wonderful giggles.

Book Review: How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?
Summary: 5 Stars

Dinosaurs are used as substitutes for children in Jane Yolen's altogether whimsical How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight; a clever picture book in which human parents try to put their dinosaur children to bed. Children will be delighted by the illustrations of giant dinosaurs trying excuse after excuse to ward off the inevitable bedtime in the same manner has they themselves do. The text is breezy and fun with just the right cadence and rythm to make Jane Yolen's story an excellent read out loud. In addition the names of each type of dinosaur are included with the story, making "How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight" an excellent way to introduce children to paleontology. Great fun is to be had by all with this marvelous children's picture book.

Book Review: Cute. Bed Time story...
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a cute little book that is a great bed time story. In the first have there are dinosaurs putting their children to bed and by the second half the dinosaur parents have changed into real mommies and daddies putting their children who are acting like dinosaurs to bed.

My children quickly grasped the fact that when they roar and cry and fuss and ask for one more book they are acting like a dinosaur.

The book is just long enough that your child will feel they have heard a good bedtime story and yet not too long to keep you up reading to them all night.

The illustrations are cute and match the text and enhance the story. The story is clearly written and easy for young children to understand.

Enjoy.

Book Review: A Fun Bedtime Story for Dinosaur Lovers of All Ages
Summary: 5 Stars

How does a dinosaur say goodnight? Jane Yolen's, How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?, offers a few humorous ways a dinosaur might say goodnight that are not unlike the typical antics of a toddler resisting bedtime. Children will enjoy looking at the illustrations of various dinosaurs acting like impish toddlers. As an added bonus, all of the illustrations have the name of each page's featured dinosaur written somewhere in the picture. Parents and children will have the opportunity to learn the names of these prehistoric beasts.

My children love this story. They ask for it nearly every night. I like it because the end reinforces the way children should go to sleep, which makes my job of tucking my children in, just a bit easier.
