Book Reviews of Hour GameBook Review: The Hour Game: killing time with a book Summary: 3 Stars
If you are looking for a novel to spend a few hours with to fill in time (as I was) then this novel may well appeal. However, if you are looking for an action filled, coherent story that has you breathlessly turning the pages - then this is unlikely to be the novel that does it.
Parts of this novel worked well, other parts didn't. My sense is that Mr Baldacci is trying to fit too much action between the covers and he is doing so at the cost of any coherency in either character development or plot. And yet, something keeps drawing me to these novels. Perhaps, subconsciously, I've become a fan of Michelle and Sean.
I've read three Baldacci novels now and while each one was worth finishing, I'm glad I borrowed them all from the library.
Recommended, but only if you are looking for a truly light weight (but thick) novel.

Book Review: It's alright Summary: 3 Stars
David Baldacci kicks off the story with a few puzzling murders and throws in a gamut of characters, including the two lead detectives. Most of the story is taut and keeps you hooked. There are nerve-gripping chases and gruesome murders. The suspense will keep you sratching your head. The story tends to get confusing at points due to the number of murders and people. In the end, you aren't exactly surprised with the motives and the killer i.e. I didn't really experience a great "Gotcha!". I see inconsistencies in the character development of the killer as well. But then, I didn't have really higher expectations going into the book. It is a mediocre thriller and if you're in the mood to read a serial killer story, then you can pick this up (unless you know of something better).
Book Review: More like 2 1/2 stars.... Summary: 3 Stars
This is the first Baldacci novel I've read, and it held my interest through out. Not bad, but not great, either.
The plot itself was a rather interesting one, and I found the homage to serial killers to be rather compelling. However, the way the mystery unravels is rather disappointing and I had a hard time finding either of the two main characters to be very likable. I grow tired of these uber-characters that are alphas in every aspect of life. I know this is just escapist literature, but, give me a break.....
A male and female partnership like that being platonic is also rather unbelievable.
Book Review: Baldacci is a great writer. Summary: 3 Stars
I like Baldacci's writing. There were numerous characters and all of them were well planned and thought out, a definite challenge as far as I'm concerned. I have to admit the title and summary of the book had me expecting a little something else. I kept thinking where is the "hour game" that I read about in the summary? Otherwise, this book was excellent.
The storytelling was very detailed and realistic with regard to police procedure and crime scene forensics, or so it seemed to me. Overall, this book is well worth a read. I enjoyed it. This was my first Baldacci book, but it definitely won't be my last.
Book Review: Time Stops For Some, But Not When Navigating This One. :( Summary: 3 Stars
This book is a so-so book. It just is not quite what you would expect from this very capable and entertaining author. I have come to expect much from Baldacci, but this book just does not quite measure up to my expectations. Why? well, it is not because the writing is bad. It is not. It is not because the book is slow. It is not that either. Where the problem rests is in the fact that there are too many subplots to allow you to focus on the main plot of the book. It just gets entirely too busy, which detracts from the overall quality of the work. Anyway, get it and (maybe) enjoy a so-so work from a great author.
