Book Review: Never Disappointed

HomeportI have never been disappointed by anything Nora Roberts writes and Homeport was another most enjoyable read for me.
I have read all of her books and now have to wait for the new ones to come out; however, some of the very best of the best, I re-read while I'm waiting. You will never go wrong choosing anything by this author.

The unseen assailant attacked Dr. Miranda Jones outside her Maine home as she returned from a busy lecture tour. After terrorizing her with a knife held to her throat, he stole her purse, slashed her tires, and disappeared. Shaken and bruised, Miranda was determined to put the assault out of her mind, and welcomed the distraction offered by a summons to Italy to verify the authenticity of a Renaissance bronze of a Medici courtesan known as The Dark Lady. However, instead of cementing Miranda's reputation as a leading authority in her field, the bronze nearly destroys it when her professional judgment is called into question and the bronze is declared a hoax.

Desperate to restore her credibility and prove The Dark Lady is really a previously unknown work of Michelangelo, Miranda turns to Ryan Boldari, a seductive - and supposedly reformed - art thief. For Miranda, forced to rely on herself and a partner with his own hidden agenda, the only way home is filled with treachery, deception, and a danger that threatens everything she loves.

Roberts returns with the customary combo of romance and intrigue in Homeport, the tale of a lovelorn Ph.D. trying to save her reputation as well as her life. Dr. Miranda Jones, who specializes in authenticating Renaissance art, is called to Italy to verify The Dark Lady, a statue that may have been created by Michelangelo. When the sculpture turns out to be a fake, she is determined to find the original and gains the help of sexy art thief Ryan Boldari--who has plans to steal a bronze via Jones. However, his manipulative designs go awry when he falls for the brainy redhead and a dangerous killer begins to stalk them.
