Book Review: What little black book?
Summary: 3 Stars

Contrary to the title of the story 'The little black book' is not the star of the show so the title is misleading. The main story is supposed to be about Courtney who is given her soon to be happily married cousin Sonya's little black book for her to find a man. However she uses the book about three times before its no longer a feature of the story.
The story looks at about 7 different relationships; Courtney Andrews and Lake Masters, (previous Masters men featured in A family reunion, The Savvy sistahs, What a woman wants), Courtney's parents - Barbara and Ronald Andrews, Ronald Andrews and his mistresses, briefly her cousin's parents - Peggy and Joe Morrison (divorced), Joe and Suzette Morrison (mistress turned wife), Peggy and Willie (a new emerging relationship) and briefly newly weds Sonya and Mike Kelly (they feature in Forever Mine - The Sweetest taboo a self published story).

Luke meets Courtney and determines from the get go she is the one, their relationship is lovely but not believeable, in the real world its based on intense sexual attraction and brilliant sex (well written as always from Ms Jackson). I was not convinced how quickly they fell in love seemed more like lust. I think too much was happening in this book. The plot lines would have made about 3 good books. This should have concentrated on Lake/Courtney and have the newlyweds Mike/Sonya as a secondary story, especially as this was an interracial marriage.
The parents story would have made a good book all by itself, especially the story of divorcee Peggy and widower Willie. I hope they feature in a sequel along with Barbara and a certain police officer.
Despite the above I did enjoy reading this book and look forward to reading the other connecting stories.

Book Review: Who is the book really about?
Summary: 3 Stars

This was a good book, not a great book, but just good for me. The story line was okay. But the book seemed to focus more on the mother, father and other relatives more than the main characters of the book. After reading the drama between Courtney's mother and father as well as her Aunt and Uncle, I kind of forgot the book was supposed to be about Courtney and Lake. Maybe if their relationship was developed a little more it would have been a great book. Of course, the guy got the girl but I would have loved for there to be a little more romance, drama, and interaction between the two. Overall, okay read - I have read better by her. She is still one of my favorite writers.

Book Review: Her Little Black Book
Summary: 3 Stars

I have enjoyed reading every Brenda Jackson book I've ever opened. This book was no different,I've also growned use to secondary stories in some of her stories, however, in Her Little Black Book I felt like the secondary stories overwhelmed the main plot. I make the that observation because I found myself not satisfied about Courtney's story but wondering more about her parent's story at the end of the book. The story had large doses of reality when dealing with problems that women face and I enjoyed the scenes of lovemaking between Lake and Courtney however some of her father infidelities I could have done without the desciptions. I recommend anyone to read this book and you will enjoy it, but it not one of favorite Brenda Jackson novels.

Book Review: Did I read the same book?
Summary: 2 Stars

This book was chosen by a member in my book club. I was so excited about reading it, because I thought it was going to be wonderful. I wonder why she chose this book. 2 of the other members thought it sucked too. I am very disappointed, With a scrumptious title and delicious cover I can't believe the inside was cardboard soup.

Book Review: Good story but missing some substance
Summary: 4 Stars

I agree with A. Robinson. I thought it was just me, but I too felt that Brenda fell short on developing the relationship of the main two characters. I did feel that it was more about Courtney's parents and Courtney's story was just secondary. However, I did enjoy the book and I do hope that she gives us an update on what happened to all of the characters in a future book.
