Book Review: Henry Reed, Inc.
Summary: 5 Stars

Henry Reed, Inc. by Keith Robertson is about a 14 year old boy whos dad is in the diplomatic service in Naples, Italy which is where Henry goes to school. Henry got an assignment from his teacher which was to tell about his traveles and events in a journal while visiting his aunt and uncle in Princeton, New Jersey. The entire book is written in a journal way but still tells the book almost the same way it would be regularly told if it was regular chapter after chapter type book. In this story Henry meets a 12 year old girl who lives nextdoor while trying to paint a sign on a red barn of his aunt and uncles that says Henry Reed, Inc. Henry and Midge make a deal. They make the deal that if Midge can capture her other rabit then it will become Reed and Glass, Inc. In the buisness Henry and Midge are doing research, selling turtles, worms, and so on. Although it wasn't on purpose Henry got an ad in the newspaper for his company because his uncles tractor stalled in the middle of the rode with a wagon with a bathtub on it and in the middle a small trailer with a bail of hay on it causing both sides of the road and cars to stop. the bathtub was going to be used for the worms to stay in. One of these people were a newspaper man who wrote an article about them in the newspaper. One major event that earned even more publicity AND money was when Henry and Midge dug down into the yard to find not water but OIL! Oil is worth quite a bit of money but when everyone remembered their used to be a house there with an oil tank which is where all the oil came from they went home. Midges dad, Mr. Glass paid them for it. Mr. Glass is a scientist who had the equiptment to bring the oil up from the ground. Henry and Midges company almost came to a stop bacause of the apples, the nextdoor neighbors who are very cautious about their yard. Mr. Apple tryed to shut it down but since its a farm you may advertise and sell without any trouble. however you cant do that at a regular house by the law. Henry and Midge become very succesful in what they achieved for their age and each make their own bank accounts to save their money. The problem wasn't really that they couldnt sell much but that they couldn't catch the one rabit until the end of the book which they wanted them to have babies so they could sell them. There wasnt really much of a problem that i could tell as the reader but it was more of a series of events that lead to them being pretty succesful. That is what this book is about and i hope this made you want to read this very good book.

Summary of Henry Reed, Inc. (Puffin books)

"This very funny story is Henry's straight-faced journal of his summer activities. Henry, who has an interest in nature and a talent for making things happen, establishes the firm of Henry Reed, Inc., Research, and with neighbor Midge as an ally, engages in a series of projects usually profitable to them, but often hazardous to the adults involved."--ALA Booklist.
