Heidi is a very calm girl. Her aunt, Detie, took care of her for a long time and now she wants to take her to her grandfather (Uncle Alp). Everyone in the village of Dorfli is very scared of him. They don't think that Detie should take Heidi there, but she does it anyways. Uncle Alp takes her inside the hut. Heidi meets Peter and they become friends. After two years of living there,her aunt, Detie, comes back and takes Heidi back to Frankfurt. In Frankfurt, Detie gives Heidi away to a rich family. One child named Clara becomes friends with Heidi. Mrs. Rottenmeir is the governess. She thinks there are ghosts in the house. She calls the doctor to come and stay overnight to find out if it is really true.
