I have several of the Health Journeys guided imagery recordings by Belleruth Naparstek, and they are all very helpful. This one is definitely helpful when my antidepressants are not helping my depression enough. It is very relaxing and allows me to feel like I am helping to heal myself a little (if you have depression, you know how helpless you can feel at times). I use the guided imagery while lying in bed, then I use the affirmations portion while driving to work.
Again, this CD is very helpful, but there are two things to be aware of. First, if you have several similar concerns (e.g., anxiety, depression, self-esteem problems, sleep problems) and you purchase these CDs, they will have very similar scripts. You may be able to just buy one and use it for several purposes. Don't expect a vast difference between the imagery for anxiety and depression, for example.
Second, the reviewer who mentions the religious bent is correct, but this should only bother you if you are a strong atheist (God is only mentioned once at the very end of the affirmations portion).

There is no one right way to go with Belleruth Naparstek on a journey, no one right way to "visualize." That may sound too basic a directive, but Naparstek encourages listeners to linger over any given image or rearrange her words and phrases into something that works more effectively. Belleruth Naparstek's voice is at once soothing and deep; the pace of her presentation offers ample time in which to follow the instructions and "see" the images suggested in this deeply relaxing, healing inner journey. People suffering from depression can expect to journey to a favorite safe place, where they may engage all the senses--feeling the temperature of the air, smelling the scents, hearing the plash of water--in the service of a healing trance. Naparstek's script gives a spiritual lift to help overcome the debilitating weight associated with depression and despair.It's recommended that the tape initially be listened to twice a day, then take a break and return in a week. For some people, affirmations are more effective than guided imagery, and side B consists of 10 minutes of affirmations that foster such feelings asself-acceptance.
Guided imagery engages the power of the imagination to heal, and this tape is an outstanding compliment to all conventional treatments. Add the professional endorsements, and you've got the best of the clinical and self-help worlds.
