Book Reviews of Headache in the Pelvis 5th Edition

Book Review: A life-changing discovery
Summary: 5 Stars

If you have been diagnosed with non-specific prostititis or frequent urination that does not respond to medication, YOU MUST get and read this book. This authoritative volume written by a PHD and MD urologist describes the ground-breaking Stanford Medical Center protocol that has successfully treated many men and women who suffer from pelvic pain syndrome that is often misdiagnosed as a disease or dysfunction of the protstate, bladder, or kidneys.

After years of suffering, I am finally receiving treatment that I am confident will deal with the underlying issues that created the symptoms that 3 urologists, hundreds of pills, and countless tests did not properly address.

Book Review: Improved new edition
Summary: 5 Stars

I was one of the original reviewers for the first edition of this book and i want people to know that the latest edition is even better than the earlier versions I reviewed. Particularly the diagrams are much more detailed and easy to understand. The quality of the layout is improved and many of the sections of text have been made more clear and reader friendly. Doctors Wise and Anderson have continued their groundbreaking work in this difficult area and continue to develop refinements to their approach. A must for the pelvic pain sufferer especially if they are considering invasive procedures. This approach should be tried first!

Book Review: Spot On
Summary: 5 Stars

I've followed the development of the Stanford Protocol for a number of years and recently reviewed this latest edition of Headache in The Pelvis. This is a remarkable book and methodology that represents a sea change in the treatment of pelvic pain. The principles discussed are sound, and show a subtle appreciation of what human beings experience dealing with this syndrome. This is a pragmatic, specific protocol detailed in this edition. As close to a silver bullet as you can get. This is a pioneering treatment for pelvic pain. I am grateful that this book has been written and method developed that can be effective reducing people's suffering.

Book Review: Life Saver
Summary: 5 Stars

When I bought this book I was desperate with pain and unable to take prescribed pain medicine.
Urologists and internal medicine doctors are dubious about efficacy of the approach - but you shouldn't be.
It save me and many others. Here's my take. The book has three important aspects: the authors are smart flexible thinkers who were paying attention during their time with patients, they employ trigger point release which is remarkable in it's own right (see Travel & Simons), finally, progressive relaxation was lifted from Edmund Jacobson - a practical genius. You can trust the Stanford protocol.

Book Review: Pelvic Headache
Summary: 5 Stars

I recommend this textbook to any PT who wants to treat male patients with chronic tension myalgia of the pelvis. With the additional inclusion of a chapter on pelvic pain in women and specific descriptions of external and internal soft tissue release techniques, this text is a must-have for PT's new to this form of treatment on this population of patients. Easy enough reading for all healthcare providers and probably most educated non-clinicians.
