Book Reviews of Harry Potter Paperback Box Set (Books 1-6)Book Review: Absolutely Amazing Summary: 5 Stars
I, like many other people, used to dislike Harry Potter. I had never actually read the books, but for some reason looked down on Potter fans, thinking them to be a bit off color. I was certain that the whole thing was highly overrated and that it had been blown way out of proportion (like Twilight).
I could not have been more wrong. I finally read the books at the continuous urging of a friend in my junior year of high school, and they have become my favorite books of all time. I have already reread all seven books and stood in line for hours to see the midnight premiere of the newest movie.
When is the last time you have read a book and instantly wanted to pick it up and read it again? It doesn't happen often.
I can't even begin to tell you how incredible these books are. Not only are they very entertaining, but they are filled with the important themes of good vs. evil, the power of love, and the value of good choices. The characters in this book have become part of my life.
If you are at all hesitant to read this series because of its classification as a 'fantasy' series, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. Yes, the book is about wizards and magic, but you would be shocked at how quickly the story pulls you in.
I can only ask you to PLEASE read the first book. If you like it, keep reading. If you don't, keep reading. The books get better as they progress, and I feel that the final chapters of the last book are some of the best reading I have ever done.
Also, do not judge these books from the movies. Everybody knows that the book is always better than the movie, and it's the same case here. The movies are great, but you need to read the books to fully appreciate what's happening and become a true Potter fan.
Book Review: Harry Potter Land Summary: 5 Stars
Have used Amazon.com in the past with great satisfaction. This experience was highly disappointing. When initially ordering the 6 book boxed set of Harry Potter books, I ATTEMPTED ordering with a NO CHARGE for shipping. I understood delivery would be slightly longer and did not object. The problem started when I tried to check out. Amazon.com had my credit card info from prior purchases yet when attempting to complete my checkout, I was not able to pull up my account info. Since the info did not appear, I assumed the order was not completed. I then tried a second time to order and this time somehow was successful? in placing and completing the order. This is where my frustration and disappointment begins. I was being charged over $11.00 for a RUSH delivery which was not necessary. Next I receive 2 confirmations for my single order. I attempted obviously unsuccessfully to cancel the RUSH delivery, but somehow was still not able to. I now have 2 sets of the same books and have now incurred more than double the cost of 1 set. I also read that cancellation cannot occur once delivery has been sent. I have no idea where my 3 emails went pleading my dilemma and requesting cancellation and a credit for the RUSH delivery set nor do I understand why my previous transactions were flawless and this one HORRIFIC. As delighted as I've been with reading the books, I still have an UNOPENED set that I've been charged for and do not feel confident any longer that I can rely on or trust Amazon.com for any future ordering. Ideal customer service would accept my returning the unopened set of books and crediting me this expense. If this should occur, then I could continue doing business with Amazon.com.

Book Review: PCE student review Summary: 5 Stars
The Harry Potter series is a great series because the author explains the characters so well. The plot is full of adventure. I like the 1st book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone because it is when Harry finds out he is a wizard, he first goes to Hogwarts, he meets friends, and gets foes.
I like the 2nd book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets because Dobby comes and tells him not to go back to Hogwarts, he goes to school anyway, and a lot of weird things happen (I can not tell you though).
I like the third book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban because he goes on the night bus and has a crazy ride, Aunt Marge starts saying bad things about him, he gets mad, and he finds out that Sirius Black got away from Azkaban.
I like the 4th book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire because there is a tournament between 3 schools that Harry some how gets entered in to and he has to do the things in the tournament.
I like the 5th book Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix because they make an order to fight dark wizards, Harry and Cho get into a relationship, and he has a court trial for using under-aged magic.
I like the 6th book Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince because Harry gets picked up early by Dumbledore and helps him make an old teacher come back.
My favorite book in the series is the 5th book. My favorite character is Harry Potter.
The series themes are life as a wizard and good versus evil. I recommend this series for all ages. I think this is the best series ever!
Book Review: Literary genius and great price all in one Summary: 5 Stars
A wonderful deal allowing one to follow the series from begining to end (well almost, 7th vol. not released yet). J. K. Rowling has written one of the best series in recent history as well as encouraging younger kids to jump on the reading bandwagon. Her characters are rarely, if ever, less than 3-D and her witty diolouge frequently creates laughter or at least gets the reader to think. In addition, the plots of the stories run almost like a mystery novel with red herrings, interrogations, and sneaking around in great abundance.
One of the strengths of Rowling's writing is her ability to create characters for whom you can feel genuine emotion. As the main trio, Harry, Ron, and Hermoine, grow up through the series, you find yourself rooting for them to overcome the next obstacle or manage to deal with the loathsmome actions of the latest scummy teacher. However, she also gives great character development to the lower-tiered individuals, making for a complex and engaging journey.
Unlike many "books" out there, Rowling's stories never include vast amounts of gore, violence, or sex to mar the reading experience.
I definitely recommend this series to anyone who wants a good read or simply needs to take a break from the everyday pressures. And since you get all six of the currently published books, you can follow the adventures without gaps or cliffhangers...except for book 6 but there's only a couple months to go.
Book Review: A Truly Magical Set of Books Summary: 5 Stars
Like many readers, I was one of those people who decided to read all of the Harry Potter Books at once, rather than endure the long waits between the release of each book. In fact, no sooner than I purchased Deathly Hallows, I went and ordered this set which include the paperback versions of books 1-6 (Book I: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Book II: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Book III: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Book IV: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Book V: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and finally, Book VI: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.).
After ravenously devouring each book one after the other, I can honestly say that I was blown away by the quality of this series. Without a doubt, J.K. Rowlings has created a timeless fantasy series that will appeal to future generations just like The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia.
Buying this set is a great way to get your hands on the first six Harry Potter Books, but it also makes for a great gift. The only drawback is that the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is not included in this set.
I highly recommend this book set, especially to the Harry Potter fans who have only seen the movies and not yet read the books.
