Book Reviews of Harriet the SpyBook Review: First read it at 12, still love it at 42 Summary: 5 Stars
Harriet the Spy is an old friend who I come back to even now, so many years later. Harriet helped shape my world. She wanted to be a writer, so did I (and I might add, I succeeded, and I hope that she did too, wherever the "grown up" Harriet might be in literature land). She felt estranged from her classmates, so did I. Harriet and her perceptions on life taught me that it was okay to question what I saw around me, that it was okay to look at life differently. I'll always thank Louise Fitzhugh for writing a book that changed my life in so many ways, and that still holds up as a wonderful, funny and poignant story years after the fact.
Book Review: Wonderful Summary: 5 Stars
I first read this book in the 3rd grade after one of my teachers bought it for me. After that I pretty much forgot about it until I remembered a lovely, absurd little quote from the book: namely, where Harriet screams, "I want to know everything, everything!" I reread the entire novel and I was blown away by every aspect of it; its realism, its lack of ornamentation, and its truly memorable characters. Recently I've been finding that I have the dearest memories of books I read as children, and this is an example of one of the best children's books out there. Even if you're an adult, you will be amazed by Harriet the Spy.
Book Review: Greatest book of all !! Summary: 5 Stars
Harriet the Spy is an 11 year old girl who keeps painful but true notes in her notebook. Soon her notebook falls into the wrong hands and everyone in her class, even her two best friends, are against her. Then she must pay them back, but is revenge the answer? Or will she give up her notebook? And will put her life right side up? Harriet the Spy is a great book with adventure, comedy and friendship. This is a book you can't put down, you have to keep on reading. But this book also shows you that revenge only causes more trouble. To find out the amazing ending, read the great book Harriet the Spy.
Book Review: a definite best-seller Summary: 5 Stars
ok, i must say that this book is possibly the best book i've ever read. i have definitly recommended this story to essentially everyone i know, and most that have read it have told me how much they love it. this book has inspired me in many differant areas many times in life. i know many people find the characters unrelatable or mean-spirited, but that adds to the books greatness. the fact that this childrens-book doesnt sugar coat the truth (like the modern-day spy-stories such as "Spy Kids") is such a refresher! this book is like a window into the world of children where most adults dare not venture.
Book Review: A Fabulous Book Summary: 5 Stars
(...) I have read the whole book of Harriet the Spy and as long as long as I live, I will love this book. This is the best book I have ever read, because it has very vivid writing and you can almost hear Harriet thinking and see what Harriet is doing (what everybody is doing). Harriet learns two things: First, sometimes you need to lie to your friends in order to keep them your friends. Second, friends are very important. I could read this book a thousand times more and not get bored with it. I would recommend over 70 people reading this book a month.
