While written for new hams, old timers can gain a lot from this book. Complete discussion of everything you should know before getting your station on the air. My 14 year old son loves the book; says it helps him sound like he knows what he is doing on the air and takes away the fear of making a gaff. Great book for new comers.Book Review: great!!!!

I have been a licenced ham radio operater for three years. HRFD has helped me discover a lot of the tricks that it took Ward Silver thirty + years to learn. It is easy to understand and fun to study. This book helped clarify the more technical aspects of preparing for an Amateur Radio Technician Class license from the FCC. Used in conjunction with another study guide, I was able to deciper the techno-geekese. Good basis.
