Book Reviews of Ham Radio For DummiesBook Review: Terrific reference Summary: 5 Stars
Ward Silver's "Dummies" book is terrific for beginners and experienced hams alike. It's not about the technical details of the hobby, really, but about how to get into ham radio and most of operating basics. I was licensed many years ago, but after a few years of operating, went into "hibernation" for about 20 years before rediscovering ham radio. This book has helped me catch up on all of the advances made in the last two decades. What's really helpful are all the references to other sources (such as websites) that take you deeper into the hobby. An outstanding addition to my "ham shack"!
Book Review: A Wonderful Way To Introduce Ham Radio Summary: 5 Stars
Very often people will ask you about ham radio and although you love the hobby, you don't know where to start in describing it. This book fills that gap. It is a complete and comprehensive introduction to Ham Radio. It is a thorough review of what Ham Radio is and also what it is not!!
I would recommend that every Ham has one in his or her shack to lend to a visitor who is curious about amateur radio. Much better than an incomplete and unprepared description from a single individual.

Book Review: Ham Radio for Dummies Summary: 5 Stars
Ham Radio for Dummies is an excellent choice as a starting point for the person interested in ham radio. It covers just about any ham radio activity possible and explains them in just enough technical language to be understood. The engineering is left out!! Everything from antennas to equipment purchases is covered. I have been a ham since 1968, and I still found this book of interest. I learned quite a bit about the newer digital modes being used on the air.
