Book Review: Oh! I loved this book

One must keep in mind when reading a fictional book about a real biblical character, that this is someone else's theory about how the story may have went based on their research into the culture, the biblical account and available historical records.
What I loved about this book is that it depicts the hardship and fears that Ester may have experienced given the culture of that era. It also sheads light on some of the biblical history that may have lead to some of the events in the actual story. These things are valuable to me because many of us do not experience trials such as those that the biblical characters went through, partly because the culture is so different from ours and partly because some of us have it far easier than we realize. Fictional depictions of biblical characters, such as this story, even if some of the "blanks" are not filled in to perfection, can be full of relatable examples of faith, grace, God's love and the fulfillment of His promises. It puts a spin on the biblical account that can make it more real when there is dialog filled in that isn't in the biblical record. It is most certainly worth the read if you are someone who gets something out of fictional books of this nature.
The only thing that I did have a hard time with was the author's writing style. It was just odd to me. Especially in the beginning. But once I got past that and into the story, it was a very rewarding read.
