Book Reviews of HTML, XHTML, and CSS, Sixth EditionBook Review: Quick Reading, Easy Understanding Summary: 5 Stars
I have been learning a little about web building over the past several years, just on my own using Dreamweaver and designing by "look" instead of coding, creating lots of unneeded CSS styles and HTML. After getting sucked in to her book I basically learned HTML overnight and more about CSS than in the 3 years of fiddling with it. Good job, Elizabeth, I've never read a clearer nor more easily navigable computer manual.
Book Review: Clear, concise, easy to understand Summary: 5 Stars
Elizabeth Castro is one of the best tech writers on the market. This book is very easy to read with tons of illustrations that compliment her clean, unpretentious writing style. I highly recommend any of the Visual Quickstart Books (I haven't come across a bad one yet) but Castro's are among the best. In her XML book, she even made XSLT easy to understand!
Her Web site is also very useful.
Book Review: Book Review Summary: 5 Stars
This book was a helpful tool in a class I was taking on-line. In fact, it was the designated textbook for the class. I am not sure it is the best book for total beginners like me in some cases. Having said that, however, I was able to follow the instructions in the book on certain subjects and get a web page up and running. I feel sure I will refer to this book for years to come for assistance.
Book Review: Excellent introduction to basic web design Summary: 5 Stars
I am the owner of Digital Stax [...], a web design company and I a web design instructor and I find this book to be an excellent book for beginners. The order in which the information is presented is logical. The examples are extremely helpful to students. It is simply an excellent, easy to understand book. The index with css properties and and html symbols are very helpful as well.
Book Review: I compared, and this is the best Summary: 5 Stars
I sat at the bookstore for a couple hours comparing all the CSS guidebooks. I have programming experience, but wasn't familiar at all with modern web authoring when I started. This book is absolutely the best choice I saw, and I was very happy reading and using it. Too bad the title doesn't convey how user-friendly the book is. Color screenshot pictures are a big deal.
