Book Reviews of Guide to Companion Parrot Behavior

Book Review: Absolutely Essential for Parrot Owners
Summary: 5 Stars

I agree with all of the other raving reviews on this book. The book is well organized, the parrots are organized by continent (Africa, Austrailia, Asia, and S. America) and the author draws similarities between the types of birds from each area. As the title would suggest this book focuses on behavior and gives well defined characteristics of each type of bird, while emphasizing that they are generalizations and that each bird might be different. The author reiterates that the owner should not buy a bird with preconcieved ideas of what they will be like, but love each bird for thier individual personality. All over excellent information and the author is clearly an expert in the area.

Book Review: good choice for parrot lover!
Summary: 5 Stars

Together with the other parrot-thematic books from the same author it is the hardware of information I have used. I have an african grey for three years now and at the beginning I made a search for every available information about the topic.

So it happens that this books I liked most as they are easy to understand, easy to read and enjoyable illustrated.

African Grey is a parrot which needs time and you have to keep in mind that he may outlive you by years. So what you teach him now will be remembered in 60years when your children will keep him a company.
It is a responsibility but a nice one:)

Yes, I can recommend to you.

Book Review: This book is a must for any companion bird library!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was really impressed with the scope of this work, as it covers not only the attributes of different species of birds, but also much regarding behavior, training, general care and help for specific problem behaviors. I would highly recommend this as a 'first read' for anyone that is contemplating adding a bird to their household. It is written in a friendly manner, is easy to read and has beautiful photos, so it's sure to be used as a reference guide by those that already own (or are owned by!) parrots. I think it's wonderful that such an excellent source of information can also be priced so reasonably! Don't wait - get this one right away!!

Book Review: One of Two Essential Books for The Parrot Enthusiast
Summary: 5 Stars

This book, along with The Well Behaved Parrot by the same author, is essential reading for anyone who has or wants a companion parrot. This book covers all of the most popular as well as some of the lesser known bird species. I have 4 rescue birds that came to me with a variety of behavioral problems. By following the behavioral techniques and interventions suggested by the author I can honestly say many problems were solved and other were avoided. Get this book and her others if you are serious about your companion birds. It will really help you understand your parrot and prevent problem behaviors from developing.

Book Review: A home library must.
Summary: 5 Stars

A well written, informative read, this book should be in all parrot lovers collections.

Informative descriptions covering size, habits and personality traits for most known parrots. A great feature is a wing clipping diagram for most of the breeds covered.

Also covered are some of the psychological aspects of parrots, including known issues such as feather chewing, biting and screaming. Detailed are tips on training, development & bonding with you as a member of it's flock.
