Book Review: LOVE IT!

I am surprised I didn't leave a review on this book. OMGosh! The techniques Chicoro promotes and DESCRIBES in her book are tried and true. I have not only raved about this book to many of my natural afro-textured hair friends, I have also suggested some of the techniques to friends of other hair textures. I haven't had one come back to me with negative feedback...I have received RAVING thanks for the recommendations provided. I have one friend who has very course hair and was ready to give up and shave her head bald or relax her hair. She asked me what was I doing to keep my hair healthy. I shared with her Chicoro's book. I usually don't have a problem allowing folks to borrow a book from me. Not this time...When she asked, I gave her the price quote from Amazon.com. She then asked me about the techniques in Grow It! 3 months later, she came up to me and gave me a big hug and said thank you. I told her not to go by what I said, but to get the book, she will see even more improvement in the condition of her hair if she educates herself. I've purchase nearly every afro-textured hair book that's out there. This book, by far, has been the most informative and useful. Chicoro describes the basics of a hair strand to the DETAILED steps of what to do to maitain and keep the hair healthy. She also provides realistic expectations. NOT ONCE in the book does she state that EVERYONE will have waist-length hair as her. Let's be realistic, "maximum lengths" can be subjective, it does NOT mean waist-length. One can NOT pin that on her. She does state in the book that it takes patience and time. As I was reading some of the reviews on Amazon.com for this book (which prompted me to write a review), and although there were tons more happy clients than unhappy ones. I must say this, I am NOT a personal friend of Chicoro, I have never met her face to face, yet, what I have experienced about the book and her, are based on a few comments to one another via virtual communications is this, this woman has done TONS of research. She is very professional and her research, personal experiences have provided her with the gift and the ability to write such a "must have" book. If I could, I'd purchase a case of this book and give them as gifts. Chicoro emphasizes protective styling and moisture moisture moisture. By the way, I don't have super tightly, coily hair, but I've seen for myself how the techniques in this book are beneficial for those with super tightly coily hair. Embrace it, work with it, remember HAVE PATIENCE...LOVE IT!
