Book Reviews of Green for LifeBook Review: Why green smoothies? They'll make you healthy Summary: 5 Stars
I've tried every type of diet known to man, and I have finally found the answer with green smoothies. I've had all kinds of health problems, but now I see that what my body really needs is more greens. Victoria Boutenko is so thorough in her research and her approach. Her advise about dealing with the other people in your life and outside temptation is also so helpful. Also be sure to read "Twelve Steps to Raw Foods". Whether you can make a drastic change in your diet or just add smoothies to your usual eating, you're going to see a difference in your health and well-being. I am able to add even more greens than she suggests in her recipes. I pack my VitaMix full of kale, collards and spinach and zip them with two cups of water. Then I add two apples and two pears. It's so delicious, I drink it all day long, and I'm never hungry for "bad stuff". If I miss a day of smoothies I really feel it. Now I'm trying to find a blender I can use on my trips to Europe. Any suggestions?
Book Review: I don't have ezcema anymore! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is great! I bought it after a coworker reccommended it. It's helped me so much that my parents, grandmother, uncle make green smoothies and they pass it along to their friends. I have had ezcema (or so all my dermatologists and allergists have said) for over 9 years. I've tried multiple creams, steroid creams and other junk and it has not helped. After reading Green For Life I started making green smoothies. It's been a year and I no longer have ezcema. I'll make green smoothies about once a month ( I'm lazy about making them). If I go too long without a green smoothie i start itching again. They actually taste good and are good for a "snack" during the day. I haven't actually followed any of Victoria's recipes. My favorite is a few handfulls of spinach, two apples and some cinnamon and a bit of water. It tastes just like cinnamon apples. This is a good book and green smoothies are an excellent way to incorporate more fresh greens and fruits into your diet.
Book Review: Definitely worth reading Summary: 5 Stars
This book presents a simple but radical idea-Improve your health by radically increasing the amount of greens in your diet.
The real genius of the book though is in the acknowledgement that most of us find greens too boring to eat in large quantities, and in Victoria's solution.
Green smoothies are an easy and palatable way to get plenty of greens into your diet.
I used to do a lot of juicing.Since reading this book,I've discovered that green smoothies are far more nutritious. And the best part is,they only take a fraction of the time to prepare and clean up.
This book is concise and easy to read.If you follow its advice,I believe it will make a positive contribution to your health.Recommended.(But as a previous reviewer said,be wary of the wild green edibles, which Victoria's family recommend for green smoothies.I agree that it's too easy to mistake a poisonous weed with one that is nutritious.I will only use store-bought greens.)
Book Review: one i've read again and again Summary: 5 Stars
I really do like this book, it seems to have been written with a certain optimism that makes it enjoyable to read. It is convincing, but not preachy. It seems that the writer did quite a bit of research before writing this book and presents it in a very easy to read format. There is a chart on page 17 that compares the diet of a chimpanzee with the standard American diet. The physical similarity between chimps and humans is discussed along with the chimps reasoning ability and intelligence. A brief history so to speak of the authors family and the medical and other problems that they had when they first began is included. The importance of healthy soil and getting enough green vegetables in the diet is discussed. And ending with testimonials, recipes, and reference notes. It is a book that I find myself re-reading. If you're wondering about the recipes, they are mostly smoothie recipes; some good and some that might curl your hair.
Book Review: Emerge Renewed Summary: 5 Stars
Greens consumed in this form are easy to take in and make the cravings go away, the mood swings go away, the hair thick, and the skin smooth and firm. The greens also pump you with energy, and amazingly cause weight loss, even when you consume as many calories as before. I cannot sit still because of my renewed vitality, and my best friend who also drinks the green stuff just did her mountain bike trail ride in record time. Victoria just might solve the healthcare crisis--I am serious. I am a happy primate who is finally consuming my native diet-- and I salute Victoria Boutenko for her free thinking and this great contribution to human wellness.
Moreover, my concept of abundance has expanded. I look outside and see the green and quietly note that I am absolutely surrounded by this vital foodstuff that happens to bring me higher in every way. We humans do truly live in abundance and would be wise to preserve it.
