Green for Life
Not feeling well? REALLY not feeling well, but can't quite put your finger on what's bothering you? Victoria Boutenko, a Russian immigrant, has written about her family of five, everyone of whom had some nagging health issue, each one different from the other. She made drastic changes in the family's diet and their health improved, to a person, dramatically.
Still, she sensed something was missing and set out to discover what it was. Her solution - drinking a green smoothie every day - is radical. But a solution like this is what many of us need to discover for ourselves and we can with the recipes found in this book. Our family of two now feel deprived, and yes, sad, if we don't drink our daily smoothie. Boutenko talks about the effects this diet change has on not only her family but many others and this makes for interesting reading.
I recommend this book and say to you that if you try the green smoothie recipes found in this book for a week you will feel healthier, happier and just plain GOOD.
Book Review: EXCELLENT!! Very informative & great intro to the world of green smoothies:) Summary: 5 Stars
I just received this book yesterday and spent a considerable amount of time last night browsing through it. The book is EXCELLENT....very informative and well written. It made me realise just how much I have been missing out on this much-needed part of the diet that is so necessary...and how easy it is to eat this way. I have been juicing a lot of greens but haven't tried "green smoothies" before. I made my first one last night and was HOOKED...really really good stuff...now I know why others are so addicted. And the fantastic thing is that it is so SO good for you!! Green smoothies really make it easy to consume lots of greens...and quickly too! Juicing greens is a nightmare because you have to spend so much time and use soooooo much green veggies to get such a little bit of juice....doing it this way, the "green smoothie" method, makes all the difference in the world...and you get ALL the goodness. I learned a lot about other things too that I hadn't known about before....the importance of hydrochloric acid in the stomach for example. Get this book!! It is a valuable & necessary addition to your health foods library!
Book Review: Green smoothies made me crave Greens and Good food...I felt superb Summary: 5 Stars
This book have changed many lives (see testimonials). I love that it is simply organized study with real people and not a clinical study.... It is so much more credible when you read short questionnaire and recognize exactly how people embrace or some resist this innocent recipes despite obvious benefits. The account of conditions that can be helped with increased amount of Greens in our diet is overwhelming. Since I included it into my household the normal tastes and craving for fresh live foods have increased. It make me wake up early in the morning with more energy and go for a jog. The clients who have constant digestive problems and constipation due to meat and cheese reported normalizing of their peristalsis when smoothies becoming their every day food (even only in part). Victoria Boutenko help to adopt the Power Soup (wheat grass) of Ann Wigmore into our diet through making it delicious. The whole story of Boutenko Family worth to be adopted by every Health-seeker. I give Huge credit to Victoria for displaying Comparative Nutrition of Fruits, Veggies, Organics versus Inorganic and Greens versus Meat. Bravo.
Book Review: Green smoothies are great. Summary: 5 Stars
I've been doing a lot of research online on how to incorporate more greens into my diet. I have to say at first it was very hard. I had not been juicing or eating raw foods which kind of made it difficult for me. I did start a cleanse and incorporated the green smoothies. I'm amazed by my results. I've lost 10 lbs. and I'm only 3 weeks into the 30 day challenge. The results vary for each individual. I've just noticed I don't feel as tired. I don't eat as much. When I workout I have more stamina. Issues that I've had with my skin have been clearing. My hair is thicker and has grown a bit and it feels stronger. My facial complexion has cleared up. Also I've had asthma since I was 10 and I haven't had to use my inhaler since I've been doing the green smoothies. There are so many wonderful things that I've been experiencing. There's no way I'm going to stop now. I suggest to do research and try this out. If you find that it doesn't work for you maybe something will. I've tried a lot of different methods and I've never really been able to get myself to want to eat vegetables. So far this has worked.
Book Review: A clear inspiration and great resource to readers who desire to lead healthier lives Summary: 5 Stars
"Green For Life" is a revolutionary but simple idea whose time is come. Raw foods enthusiast author Victoria Boutenko has compared a standard American diet with the diet of wild chimpanzees and discovered, guess what, an outstanding difference is the percentage of greens and blossoms that are eaten by wild chimps. Her conclusion is that even raw foods consumers need to include substantially more greens in their diet. Her suggested series of 23 green smoothie recipes (containing ingredients such as kale, avocado, parsley, garlic, or strawberries, bananas, romaine and water), are easy to make and tasty to drink. The many benefits of greens consumption are clearly outlined, and by blending the greens, all the nutrients can be absorbed more easily. "Green for Life" is filled with testimonials and is a finalist in the Health/Medicine/Nutrition category of the 2006 Independent Book Publisher Awards. It is a clear inspiration and great resource to readers who desire to lead healthier lives, and a welcome addition to personal reference collections for the health-conscious consumer.
