Book Reviews of God Save the Sweet Potato Queens

Book Review: God Save Jill Conner Browne!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was the only reason to laugh during a very bad week. You know, one of those strings of days when nothing goes right and you just want to holler or go back to bed and hide? The Sweet Potato Queens' antics kept me from doing either. I don't mind if some of her material was expanding on the earlier book. So what? Do you ever eat a wonderful dessert and think, "Well, that's over. I can never eat anything like that again"?

Book Review: Capuchin
Summary: 5 Stars

This book changed my life. I picked it up in an airport as I was leaving the country to work on my dissertation fieldwork. I couldn't put it down. Jill has such a wonderful sense of humor and outlook on life, I laughed out loud while reading it.

I embraced Queendom and, more importantly, my friends. I got myself a tiara; there's just no way to stay frustrated, angry or depressed when you're wearing a tiara.

Book Review: The Best of the Three
Summary: 5 Stars

This one is the funniest of the three SPQ books. It has priceless moments and for even greater enjoyment, listen to the audiobook read by the author. If you are offended by language or sexual comments, then steer clear. For the rest of us, this is a highly entertaining book and very motivating to aspiring wannabes. The end is bittersweet, but life's laughter often comes from our experiences, both good and bad.

Book Review: Wannabe a SPQ
Summary: 5 Stars

I did not believe it would be possible to enjoy a book as much as I did THE SWEET POTATO QUEENS' BOOK OF LOVE and then I found GOD SAVE THE SWEET POTATO QUEENS. Jill Conner Browne's wit and insight is just a sharpe in the second book as it was in the first.

Of course not everyone will "get it" and for these folks I feel sorry, but don't give up. While you still breath there is still hope.

Book Review: Ya-Ya, Blah-Blah
Summary: 5 Stars

This is no Ya-Ya Sisterhood... thank God! Much funnier, much sassier, and a great follow-up to 'Book Of Love'. But if you're the kind of person who blushes easily, you better think twice about reading this in public.
Let me suggest another fun book that I saw recommended on a review of 'Book Of Love'... No One's Even Bleeding. (But beware, it's another one that might make you blush in public.)
