Book Reviews of God Save the Sweet Potato QueensBook Review: Great book! Summary: 5 Stars
First, I can't believe anyone would be offended by this book! It is honest and hilarious especially for those of us fortunate enough to live in the South. Second, I can't believe someone would be small minded and rude enough to write a review on here saying that all of us that like these books are stupid man hating trash. If you were offended, fine, but don't insult the rest of the enlighted populous because you can't take a joke. Lastly, I can't believe Amazon has kept that review on here as it is obviously insulting to anyone who likes this book. All of the books are funny, you-go-girl attitude must reads!
Book Review: Jill Conner Browne does it again! Summary: 5 Stars
I didn't think Jill could top "The Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love," but she did it with this book. Sequels are rarely as good as the original, but Jill has done it here. The final chapter knocked me for a loop, but her outpouring of feelings was wonderful.
By the way, I swear I've never met Jill or any of the Sweet Potato Queens (at least, I wasn't aware of it if I did). I'm awaiting the next book in the series as soon as Amazon delivers it (The Sweet Potato Queens' Big-Ass Cookbook and Financial Planner.)
The Sweet Potato Queens rule!
Book Review: The Triumphant Return of the Queens Summary: 5 Stars
If y'all are as particular as I about no-nonsense advice, eat-until-it-hurts cookin', big wigs, sequins, tiaras, and to whom you give The Promise, look no further than Jill Conner Browne's masterful follow-up to her "Book of Love." I swear, Jill's tongue and her brazen wit have actually gotten SHARPER since her debut...and she'll still "Lick You All Over for 10 Cents." My sides have been hurting for days with this one (or is that just the Twinkie Pie?)! God save the Tammys and God save the Sweet Tater Queen!
Book Review: They're Baaaacccckkk! Summary: 5 Stars
Christmas is over, the snow's on the ground & tax forms are arriving---we need relief! Well, it's here in the form of the Sweet Potato Queen & her court of Tammys. There's valuable information here as well as great recipes. Check out Death Chicken. Hopefully you won't wait until a funeral to make it {although the recipe could possibly cause hardening of the arteries resulting in an untimely death!) I'm going to end this so I can go out get a big ol' red wig, sequins & a ticket to Jackson, Ms. Enjoy.
Book Review: can't stop laughing Summary: 5 Stars
God save the Sweet Potato Queens is a fabulous follow up to the Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love. Jill Conner Brown and the Tammys are riotously funny but still down to earth. After reading this book, I did something I have never done before--I e-mailed the author. She is just as funny on-line as she is in print. This book exposes more of the things that make the South both bizarre and incomparably wonderful. I highly recommend both books for anyone you know who has anything remotely resembling a sense of humor.
