Book Review: Not For the "Go-Dog-Go" Purist Summary: 4 Stars
I will agree with many of the reviewers here - it is disappointing that the entire text of the wonderful "Go Dog, Go!" didn't make it into this board version - but I understand the reasoning. Can you imagine how fat the little board book would be? And honestly, a book aimed at one-year olds isn't expected to capture 30 minutes of attention, anyway. The two different plots make the original "Go Dog, Go!" hard to follow for many kids under age 2. When shopping for books for 3 and 4 year olds, look to the hardcover version of "Go Dog, Go!" It's fun, and funny. I read it to my 12 year old every night during her preschool years; it was a family favorite. For 1 and 2 year olds, this condensed "board" book is a great introduction to the classic Eastman story.
Book Review: Yes, its different from the original - but my toddler loves it! Summary: 4 Stars
If you've read the original, longer, book this one might seem odd. It's a couple dozen pics from the original book, with new text (that - if you've read the original - doesn't seem to fit the pictures very well). BUT: my 17 mo old son doesn't have the attention span for the longer version. This shorter one repeats two of his favorite words (go and dog) over and over. We read this book many times a day - it's one of his favorites.
