Book Reviews of Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the WorldBook Review: inspiring Summary: 5 Stars
I wasn't sure what to expect of Clinton's latest book when I first picked it up. In the end, it was inspiring, informative, and motivating. He talks about the generosity of well known philanthropists such as Gates, Buffet and Bono but also speaks of the generosity of lesser known givers such as Andre Agassi and Tiger Woods. He touches on a number of causes - including poverty, the environment, education, HIV/AIDS and provides the reader with concrete ways in which they can help - be it financially, through time, or through grassroots activities. A compelling read to be sure.
Book Review: Truly inspirational Summary: 5 Stars
I understand that Bill Clinton can be a polarizing figure. However, after reading Giving, I think anyone could gain something from it if they are willing keep an open mind. It is positive, inspiring and well-written. It motivated me to look into several of the organizations highlighted in the book. His anecdotes and statistics are great. And sure, he gives Hillary, Chelsea and his self a few plugs, but he also discusses some of the philanthropic work being done by Republicans and Democrats alike. I would urge anyone to pick it up.
Book Review: giving how each of us can change the world Summary: 5 Stars
I have read the reviews and look foward to reading the President's book. There seems to be some similarity between Cooking Famously and Giving. Famous Recipes (including Bill Clinton's Enchiladas that he kindly shared) and a list of charities including charity awareness and wise giving practices in the former book. We can all change the world by giving and giving wisely. Cooking Famously
Book Review: Great Book Summary: 5 Stars
I read this from cover to cover and couldn't put it down. It reminded me that we can all do something grand with our time. Clinton mentions volunteering with young people and I agree that it is so very important. If you have young ones as well, check out: The Ultimate Volunteer Guidebook for Young People Both books are an awesome gift to any young person.
Book Review: Giving IS Living Summary: 5 Stars
I didn't always agree with President Clinton politically. But I certainly agree that to give is to truly live. This book is filled with beautiful examples of how giving freely of ourselves enriches not only the lives of others but our own lives as well.
Also recommended: Christmas Gifts, Christmas Voices--another GREAT book on giving.
