Book Review: Girls of Summer doesn't do girls justice

Lois Browne's "Girls of Summer" is a brief snapshot of the history of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. As someone doing research on the league, the book comes up short on providing more than just basic knowledge on the subject. Browne does sufficiently describe the girls and the spirit of the league in this heartwarming narrative. Browne's intended audience is clearly the general public, not as much the historical crowd. The book does not have a bibliography which leads me to wonder where the author obtained most of her information. Despite lacking researchable qualities, the book is fairly easy and enjoyable to read as it is divided according to individual seasons. I would recommend it for anyone who is looking for an introduction to the league.
