This is a very inspiring book, especially for young people who are having problems in school or with their peers, but also for adults. This man grew up in the most discouraging conditions, but because he had a mother who believed in him and encouraged him, his life was turned around. He is now one of the most sought after and skilled neurosurgians in this country and maybe in the world. He is also a very Godly person, which has much bearing on his position in the world.Book Review: My daughter is REALLY ENJOYING THIS BOOK!!!!!

I bought this book the same time they were airing the movie version on TNT. I was told to get this book about 10 or 15 years ago and didn't listen. This time I was not going to let the opportunity get away again! My daughter needed a book to do a report on and I gave her "Gifted Hands" to read and she REALLY likes it! I STILL have yet to read it because I believe she has now CONFISCATED it!!! I guess one day I will get the chance to read it...hopefully SOON!!!!!Book Review: Easy read, wonderful book for young people

This is a wonderful book that is truly inspiring, especially for young people. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would highly recommend it as a gift to young people who deserve to learn of the drive and dedication of Dr. Carson, and the heights of success he has been able to achieve. It's a story of hope, family support, discipline and success. The plot is easy to follow, and makes reading a pleasure - worth it. This is an excellent read for young adults onward. Interwoven in all of Dr. Carson's stories is a testament to what GOD can do. Dr. Carson was child by societal standards was not supposed to succeed. He was raised in a single parent home with a mother who battled mental illness yet he overcame struggles by focusing on what he could do as opposed to what he couldn't do. This book will truly inspire you to be the very best in your God led profession. Awesome!!!Book Review: I recommend the book for reading

I would recommend the reading of Ben Carson because it puts awareness on the delicateness of life. And the pressure involved in surgery for example when Dr. Carson stated after everything was closed up he then realized he had been holding his breath throughout the last part of the procedure. It also points out the involvement of team work between Surgeons and it also takes you right to the edge of the seat waiting for the surgery to end and be successful.
