Book Reviews of Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road

Book Review: beautiful, sad, and brings redemption at the end
Summary: 5 Stars

this is a powerful story of a man who lost his entire family in under a year, and to fight this horrendousness he traveled across the country down to Belize on his motorcycle. THis documents most of the details of that journey, the people he meets and things he sees along the way, and how his life is saved at the end. As we all know, he was able to recover as much as you possibly can recover from something so terrible, and continues to make musis with the band Rush, whereupon they released another cd that deals with bringing up hope again, being reborn, recovering and healing. Peart was saved in the end, and reborn into being a new person starting over. This is story is powerful, terrible and sad, and uplifting at the end. It made me have renewed respect for Neil, someone who I have admired for his intelligence and skill. I recommend that anyone who is looking for a good nonfiction book get this.

Book Review: What a storyteller
Summary: 5 Stars

As a drummer and fan of Rush, I was intrigued when I came across this book. Reading the back cover, I was intrigued to read of Neil's loss and struggle and I wanted to read his process of recovery.

Generally not a person to read much, it can often take me weeks or months to finish a book, but I finished Ghost Rider in less than a week. Peart's lyric writing doesn't hold a candle to his ability to tell stories in this pages of this book. He describes his experiences in a way that puts you in his shoes and helps you gain an insight into the struggles that he faced. The stories, the descriptions, everything made me want to keep reading!

If anyone you know is struggling with the unexpected death of a loved-one, I would insist they read this book, and you should also read it to understand the process people are going through.

Book Review: masterpiece!
Summary: 5 Stars

i don't know what more i can say, book more than worth reading, if you love music, RUSH, adventure, bikes, just to name a few and i you can appreciate what it takes for soul to lose everything an want to keep moving forward this is a worth wild read for you.

i personally love it for all that and the way he speaks so painfully honest of eventing, himself included. not to mention his amazing ability to be perfectly descript and yet it inst my method of choice to fall asleep, if you have ever read those kind of books im sure you can relate. and as you go you will see more and more of who Niel Peart is, much of it being hi sense of humor, all be it subtle r dark at times always there. all i can say is buy it and read it, i did it on a whim simply cuz i love Rush and always like to hear what fellow drummers have to say.

Book Review: ALL Rush fans should be REQUIRED to read this! ALL OF THEM!
Summary: 5 Stars

Trust me, if you're a Rush fan and you haven't bought and read this book, what the heck are you waiting for? This is the book that explains the story we all wanted to hear from Neil concerning the personal tragedies that kept him and Rush out of the spotlight for 5 years.
The book starts out with Neil explaining the night they found out Selena died, and goes on to explain the chain of events that led up to Jackie's death. You might just be shocked at what you read, and you'll be further surprised when you finally get to the end after reading Neil's odyssey across Canada to Alaska, down the west coasts of both Canada and the U.S, through Mexico, to Belize, then on his further journeys. If you want to know what he did from there, buy and read the book!
If you're a true Rush fan (like me) you NEED to read this book!

Book Review: Surviving life, on a motorcycle
Summary: 5 Stars

Life can be cruel. In less than a year Neil Peart lost the two most important people in his life. He copes with that loss with a time tested male response, he runs away. In the past, men went to sea after a great loss, Neil hops onto a motorcycle and sets out with no clear destination.
It's a truism that when you are on a bike you are alone with yourself. There is no place to hide and no one to distract you. It's just you, the wind, the road, and the occasional bug.
The healing road that he traveled is one that all of us will be on sooner or later.
If you love motorcycles and stories of long rides, you'll really enjoy this book. It's about the best motorcycle story since "On Any Sunday". If you need a book about dealing with grief and healing, this will help you too.
