Book Review: Great for fans!

Aspho Fields is an excellent read that fleshes out a lot of backstory to the majority of the characters in Gears of War. For fans, this is a must own. The biggest plus I've found from reading it was a strong foundation for Dom's love for Maria. In Gears 2 I found myself unsympathetic to Dom's saddness over Maria's disappearance. After this book, however, I definately feel for Dom, and that fills a huge emotional gap for me in the Gears story. Definately recommended.Book Review: Great Way to Extend the Story

As a big fan of the Gears of War games, I decided to give this novel a shot. My expectations were blown away by Karen Traviss' writing. The book is not only filled with the intense, visceral action that the Gears series is known for, but also deep character development and interesting dialogue. I would highly recommend this to any Gears fan or anyone that just wants a good military sci-fi story to read.Book Review: success!!

I bought this for my sister because she is interested in game writing and the stories behind the games, AND she LOVES gears of war. It was hard to make a decision because I hadn't played it yet, I couldn't very well ask her because it was a present, and there were some people that said it SUCKED. I was expecting something along the lines of a cheap sci-fi story that just mentioned characters and places from the game with no real story or significant tie-in with the game. It's very well written, great action-oriented storytelling and a great deal of back story and information on Locusts and characters, as well as the world of Sera.Book Review: This book rocks!

This is a terrific book independent of the game. The book is extremely well written. The combat scenes in this are some of the best I have ever read. Forget that this has anything to do with a video game. This is hard core, hard as nails military science fiction. You won't be disappointed.
