Book Review: A must-have for Gargoyles fans!

Even after all these years, Gargoyles is still my favorite television show. I've never found another show more well-written, with such a rich tapestry of characters, places, and time periods. So, when they stopped making new episodes of Gargoyles over ten years ago, I was crestfallen. But now, Gargoyles lives again! Clan-Building Volume 1 gives us all-new, CANON stories from series creator Greg Weisman. It picks up where season 2 left off (season 3 isn't canon).
Issues 1-2 adapt the television episode "The Journey", from season 3, into comic book form. Although season 3 as a whole isn't canon, the episode "The Journey" has long been considered "semi-canon" because it was written by Greg Weisman. However, the televised episode features lower production values than the season 1 and 2 episodes, has several moments that don't make logical sense, and also leaves out several key moments from Greg Weisman's script. So for anyone who wants to see what the episode "The Journey" SHOULD have looked like, reading issues 1-3 will show you.
Issues 3-5 feature the first truly new material. It tells the story of Goliath and Elisa's relationship problems, the Xanatos' halloween party, Brooklyn's loneliness since everyone else seems to have paired off, Thailog's attack on the Eyrie Building, Xanatos' trip to The White House, and the clones' ultimate choice regarding where their loyalties lie (they don't all make the same choice). Also, in a tag befitting a Gargoyle whose education was overseen by Xanatos, Thailog reveals his REAL motive for attacking the Eyrie Building, and we are introduced to a new Illuminati member who will make things interesting in future issues.
Issue 6 is a stand-alone story, and tells the tale of one of Goliath, Elisa, Angela, and Bronx's "World Tour" adventures, which wasn't televised, following their battle on Avalon. This time, they encounter a group of monks in the snowy mountains and also run into Coldstone. They try to convince Coldstone to come with them and re-join the clan, but things don't go as planned...
If you want to know what would have happened if Gargoyles had continued to have new episodes, this books is a MUST-HAVE for you!

The hit comic book series gets collected in trade paperback form just in time for the holidays. Gathering together the stories from issues #1-6, Gargoyles: Clan Building Volume One promises to be one of the best selling trade paperback SLG puts out this year. The series is still seen on the various Disney channels and the fan base remains as passionate about this book as it was during its initial run in syndication. Written by Greg Weisman, who created and produced the animated series and who is now producing the SPIDER-MAN The Animated Series for Sony, the stories presented in the comic book series represent the first additoins to the Gargoyles canon since the series ended almost 10 years ago. Presented in full color, this is going to be a must buy for all Gargoyles fans.General Books
