Book Review: Not Fancy, But Great for Good Cooking
Summary: 5 Stars
This cookbook does not have all the fancy pictures that many today have, but it has great instructions and information. I made the best potato soup I've ever had following her recipe. Julia does not just give a plain recipe, but offers additional information so you know why you're following the steps she lays out. She also gives alternatives one can use, which allows me to feel more creative and inventive. We've only scratched the surface of all the book offers, but my husband and I reach for it again and again.Book Review: From Julia Child's Kitchen

In actual fact, this is Volume III of Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and I am extremely grateful to get it. The first two volumes are works of tremendous importance in our culinary history and while my experience of Volume three is only just beginning, I am looking forward with great anticipation to working through many of the recipes. This is my go-to Julia Child cookbook. The recipes are more streamlined than those in "mastering the Art..." but still detailed and clear, and still mostly French. And they produce sumptuous food. I really think Julia Child was one of the greatest recipe writers ever. I never realized how much of an art form that was until I cooked from this book.
