Book Reviews of French Women Don't Get Fat

Book Review: Times Forgotten
Summary: 4 Stars

Will I lose weight? I don't know. However I am more aware of what is on my plate and how it is presented. I was reminded in this book of times past and of places that have seasons. Times when all produce wasn't available all year around. Now we no longer have the wonderful and sensual experience of waiting for seasonal foods. We waited with anticipation and then deeply appreciated every piece because it wasn't going to be available much longer...we savored...remembered the taste and looked forward to the next seasons produce. Now it is all there all the time... too much! too often! I now take time to enjoy, think about flavors and combinations...and I am more selective. Even trying different things. Thank you Mireille Guilliano for such reminders.

Book Review: good points, but not realistic on american ground
Summary: 4 Stars

I love this book, even though it is a bit unrealistic to implement in the US besides big cities like NY or Boston, where you actually have a farmers market and can walk everywhere. I have lived in many different countries (France included) and can honestly say that not only French women don't get fat, but I guess this is the selling point for the book. Some of the ideas are hard to grasp in the book, but I just adore the recipies, and will try some of them out for sure. One thing that is not true in the book is naming Madame Curie a French woman. She was Polish, her name was Maria Sklodowska-Curie, and she did not get rid of her maiden name after marrying Pierre Curie. I guess the French chose to forget that since she got two Nobel prizes.

Book Review: I don't think of it as a diet book
Summary: 4 Stars

I first bought a copy a few years ago, and still find myself thinking and referring to it often. Like last night, my boyfriend wanted to make yogurt, and I knew the author had easy, great recipes. (Mireille Guiliano writes of her devotion to house-made yogurt. Since first reading the book, I always make my own.) I bought this extra copy for my 65-year-old Mom, and we've talked about how the book is about loving life - including the joys of walks, good champagne, family, and fresh foods and recipes. I'll always keep my own copy around.

Book Review: mireille guiliano
Summary: 4 Stars

while I found mireille somewhat of an aristocrat with her opinions of french women(I have learned that most french women are actually not so picky),i did find this book quite informative on how to eat healthy & moderately! I have used this method for about one month now & have lost 3 pounds. I am now wearing clothes that were in my closet that i could not wear because i was too flabby. I now eat yogurt, cheese, bread & drink a glass of wine daily. I'm 45 yrs old & I'm wearing my slim jeans again!!! This isn't a diet & it works!!
