THIS IS AN EXCELLENT BOOK, ABOUT AN EXCELLENT BAND, AND WAS WRITTEN BY AN EXCELLENT AUTHOR!!! THE AUTHOR IS MARLEY BRANT, ALTHOUGH SHE IS NOT AN INSIDER, LIKE GENE ODOM WHO CO-WROTE HIS BOOK ABOUT LYNYRD SKYNYD, SHE IS A VERY REPUTABLE AUTHOR (From Atlanta I think), AND SHE HAS CONNECTIONS TO MEMBERS OF LYNYRD SKYNYRD AND HAS BEEN A LONG-TIME FAN OF THE BAND. SHE HAS CONNECTIONS WITH THE BAND'S FAMILY MEMBERS AND ASSOCIATES.

MARLEY BRANT DEDICATES THIS BOOK TO RONNIE, ALLEN, DEAN, LEON, STEVE AND CASSIE,"WHO WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN, AND TO THE SURVIVORS, WHO WILL NEVER FORGET."

SHE AUTHORED THE BOOK "SOUTHER ROCKERS - THE ROOTS AND LEGACY OF SOUTHERN ROCK" (WHICH IS AN OUTSTANDING BOOK BUT IS HARD TO FIND). SHE ALSO HAS PRODUCED RECORDS. I PERSONALLY HAVE A GRAM PARSONS CD FROM 1973 THAT WAS PRODUCED BY MARLEY BRANT.

NOW THE BOOK! IT IS VERY COMPREHENSIVE,VERY WELL PRESENTED, VERY WELL ILLUSTRATED AND CONTAINS WELL OVER 200 PAGES. SHE GIVES AN EXCELLENT HISTORY AND STORY OF LYNYRD SKYNYRD.

THE DIFFERENCE IN HER BOOK IS THAT SHE DOES NOT GET INTO THE "OLD BAND" VERSUS THE "NEW BAND" CONTROVERSY. SHE LIKE ME, LOVES ALL VERSIONS OF LYNYRD SKYNYRD!!! SHE COVERS THE BAND AFTER THE PLANE CRASH AND ALL THE WAY UP TO 2002.

THIS BOOK HAS A SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY, WHICH COVERS NOT ONLY LYNYRD SKYNYRD RELEASES, BUT ALSO, ROSSINGTON/COLLINS BAND RELEASES, APB (ARTIMUS PYLE BAND) RELEASES, ALLEN COLLINS BAND RELEASES, JOHNNY VAN ZANT RELEASES AND JOHNNY AND DONNIE RELEASES, ALONG WITH OTHER RELATED RELEASES.

SHE COVERS THE GREAT CONTRIBUTIONS THAT RICKEY MEDLOCKE AND HUGHIE THOMASSON HAVE MADE TO THE BAND.

SHE ALSO COVERS THE DEATH OF LEON WILKISON. I DON'T THINK THIS IS COVERED IN THE OTHER BOOK.

BOTH BOOKS ARE GREAT, AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH OF THEM. I JUST WANTED TO POINT OUT SOME OF THE DIFFERENCES.

MARLEY BRANT IS A PHENONMENAL AUTHOR, SHE HAS MY RESPECT. THIS IS A GREAT BOOK ON THE "OLD SKYNYRD" AND THE "NEW SKYNYRD", AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!
