I read Forever Amber as a teenager and did not remember the ending. On reading it now, I realize that I didn't want to remember the ending. It's a most depressing morality play that leads the reader down a dark emotional hole. I don't recommend it unless you are judgmental and will be happy to cheer for the utter demise of Amber and her dreams.
