Book Reviews of Football for Dummies, Second EditionBook Review: Touchdown for the Dummies team! Summary: 5 Stars
I love Howie Long. Let me just get that out of the way. His inimitable style on Fox NFL Sunday just gets the perfect platform with the publishing of his Football for Dummies book. Howie makes it clear that his guide to the ins and outs of football is not just for the novice fan. He takes great pains to be as thorough and yet, as entertaining as he can, while delving into the mechanics and the glories of the sport he devoted his life and his heart to. A great reference to pull off the shelf when you don't understand why the ref made the call he just made, or how the game works when your spouse is too busy watching the game to explain it to you. :-)
Book Review: Football for Anyone Summary: 5 Stars
I have a keen interest in North American Football and overtime I have picked up some terms and tactics, but as I am not North American I lack allot of detail knowledge on the game. So I wanted a guide to American Football that would give me not only the fundamentals but more detailed information.
Howie's Football for Dummies has a comprehesive coverage of topics, and in addition, the book has historical/evolution snippets and first hand player insights. So I have found this book a great reference for a fan that originates from a different football background.
Book Review: Football For Dummies Summary: 5 Stars
I have a 14 year old son who has been playing football for 6 years on a city league, but I never really got into the game of football until this year when he started playing for his school team. After reading the book, I definitely understand more about the game and it makes watching him play much more enjoyable. (My husband has never had an interest in football, so it has been an asset to him too).
Book Review: Excellent for General Knowledge Summary: 5 Stars
I coach football both youth and amateur. I am always look for new information on football. I found the "Dummies" book a little bit better than the "idiots" book. Why? The "Dummies" book is about football in general and the "Idiot" book leans towards NFL football. Someone new to football may want to read this book if they will be watching any other level of football other than the NFL.
Book Review: Just like the title states... Summary: 5 Stars
My son got this because he was going to try football this year, well it didn't work out, so I think I'm going to sell the book. It does have a lot of info though. Definitely good book for beginners.
