Book Reviews of Fool's ParadiseBook Review: TROUT BUM still Gierach's best work! Summary: 4 Stars
I've been reading and enjoying Mr.Gierach's work since my early twenties. As I am now 49 years of age, I guess I harken back to my youth, when the "good fishing" opportunities didn't seem to involve such distant travels and inordinate cash outlays.
While FOOL'S PARADISE is still a good read for all of my fellow fly-fishing "crazies" I still keep wanting to turn back the clock to a simpler time when most of our western states harbored a plethora of trophy class trout. When a young fellow could afford to live a blissful life with little cost as a truly contented TROUT BUM. Maybe it's just my my "middle age meltdown..."
Book Review: Love John Gierach Summary: 4 Stars
This book is great. I love his writing style. The stories in this book are catchy and informative. However, I noticed most of the material comes from articles and excerpts from Fly Rod and Reel and I think other books. Not sure if it was all the chapters because I haven't kept up with his other publications. It would have been nice to read a book with chapters that haven't been published already. Regardless, still a quality book and a delight to read.
Book Review: A fly fishrman's opinion Summary: 4 Stars
As with John's other books this a group of short stories about his fishing trips and friends. I enjoy his books and they keep me entertained until I can get out on a stream. If you are not an avid fly fisher person you may find them boring.
Book Review: Good book Summary: 4 Stars
This is a well written book, but I have enjoyed some of his other books more than this one.
