Book Review: Challenging / Inspiring
Summary: 5 Stars
This dramatic true story is so impressive in the telling. It is a story that kept me turning the pages and then contemplating about the events experienced by the characters. So much integrity in the main character that she is someone I came to deeply admire and am ashamed of petty discomforts I have complained about in my life. I loved this story so much that I purchased 3 additonal copies to give as gifts and everyone who received the book has called me to discuss it with me and then lent their copy to a friend to read.
Now that's a good book !!

I wanted to read a meaningfull, quality book and I found it in Follow the River. Once you get through the graphic beginng, it's an adventure you can't put down. When I finished, I gave it to my husband who hasn't read a novel in 20 years. We were both impressed by the courage and fortitude of Mary Ingals. It is a well written and truely amazing story of human will. It's been 4 months since we read the book and we still discuss it often. We will forever remind each other that whatever our hardship, it doesn't compare to the life of Mary Ingals.Book Review: Clear your schedule before starting to read it!

I couldn't rest until I finished this book! Mary Ingles went through an amazing ordeal. I was so involved in the story that I could hardly think of anything else for days. I felt like I was there with her, and I know I wouldn't have been strong enough to do the things she did. I know this book has changed my life for good. Often when I think my life is hard, I remember Mary, and I realize that I have it pretty good.
I would definitely NOT recommend this book for children. It has some very disturbing and graphic themes.
Book Review: Why have I never heard of this book?

I find it amazing that I had not heard about this book until a few weeks ago. I finished it a few days ago and am still thinking about it. Then to get to the end and discover it was based on a true story, simply pulled me even further into feeling this book is a rare 5* find. Mr. Thom lets the reader feel each emotion of the characters, one feels each step of each character's movements, both emotionally and physically. I also learned more about American history from what felt like a very real perspective. Thank you so much Mr. Thom.Book Review: A MUST READ STORY

I had read James alexander Thom's book called FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA, and I was hooked on his writing style. So, I decided to try FOLLOW THE RIVER. It turned out to be such a rivetting story that I couldn't put it down till I finished it. I passed it on to my friends and even ordered another copy because my first copy was not circulating fast enough.
I have now read everything that Thom has written. I feel as though I am part of the story he narrates. A graphic, desriptive writer makes the pages jump out at you!!!
