Book Reviews of Fit for LifeBook Review: The book that changed my life Summary: 5 Stars
I started on this diet 18 months ago and boy, what a difference.
I am sharper, brighter, more alive, better at my work, more energetic, can eat as much as I like, suffer no ill health or pain and discomfort...I could go on all day but I think you get the idea. This book is not a diet fad, it is a life changer.
You may think that a book talking about fresh fruit and vegetables, air, water, sunshine and exercise is just common sense. Well you would be right, it is. Unfortunately with all the different opinions we receive from doctors, health advisers and food companies it is easy to get confused about what we should eat.
I would suggest trying this diet for 10 days and see how you feel. I suspect you will notice an improvement in well being very quickly and any way the money you spend on the book will be paid back by a lower grocery bill (fresh produce is cheaper than cooked or processed). What have you got to lose?
After a few months of following the principles in Fit for Life, I would strongly recommend reading Fit for Life II by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond.
Well done Harvey and Marilyn Diamond for having the courage to speak the truth, and thank you.
Book Review: Fit For Life, more than just physically Summary: 5 Stars
I have read both "Fit For Life" I and II, and am now enjoying a much healthier and happier life than ever before. Having life long poor health, I never imagined the impact that a properly funcitioning body could have on not only my physical health, but on my mental and spiritual health. The principles of "Fit For Life" have completely changed my way of thinking about health, food, nutrition, and the food companies. I have learned about proper food combining, fresh raw vegetable nutrients, the importance of nutrient balance, and the lack of value in processed food. I now enjoy fully tasting food, craving nutritious living food, and very importantly, NOT being hungry all the time! There will always be those that try to discredit something honest, informative, and benefical to the people (you and me) that they, the discrediters look at as mainly a source of profit, through half thruths, paid of reserchers, and just plain lies. "Fit For Life", "earns their keep" by providing accurate useable information, the "where, when, and how", and most importantly, the TRUTH. Thank you to the Diamonds.
Book Review: A Lifelong Health Plan. Summary: 5 Stars
This books represents the ultimate health and nutritional program. It is a life changer as some reviewers have pointed out. By eating nothing but fresh fruits and juices until noon has changed my life around for the better.
I used to have a good well-balanced diet. But in the morning I would stick to a hearty breakfast, including carbohydrates and two cups of coffee. As a result, my energy would decrease in the afternoon.
It was hard to get rid of the morning coffee, though. I still feel a little drowsy in the morning because of the coffee absence.
From noon on, however, after a twenty-minute-siesta, my energy level sores throughout the day.
I still have most food in moderation, including coffee. I just try to avoid mixing flesh with carbohydrates.
Apart from this, I would agree with some reviewers that this diet may be inadequate to some people. Thus, if you are a diabetic or prone to it consult a physician before starting this program. The Diamonds themselves alert people to drink their morning juices slowly to avoid rapid increase in their sugar levels.
Book Review: Highly recommend Summary: 5 Stars
Previous to purchasing "Fit For life", I had read a number of negative reviews concerning the principles outlined within its pages. Much of the bad press came from noteworthy fitness buffs and mags, so I naturally assumed that Fit for life was indeed another trendy get -rich- fast diet book. That is, until I finally read it and began to apply the principles vigorously to my daily life. What a difference six months have made! My complexion is radiant, I am more shapely, and I have much more energy. Even my hair and nails are shinier and more beautiful. I now eat a mainly raw food diet high in fruit, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds. Although I do not always combine them properly- sometimes my fave breakfast is a hot bowl of steel cut oats, raisins, walnuts and flaxseed with skimmed milk- I enjoy a greatly enhanced quality of life thanks to the principles first discovered in the wonderful book. I have to admit that a few of their scientfic observations are a bit askew, but please do not let that cloud your heart on what is essentially, a terrific little book on improving your life and health.
Book Review: The last "diet" book you will ever need Summary: 5 Stars
I started eating the Fit For Life way after I had my first baby in 1985. I had that last 10 pounds that would not budge, despite eating well and nursing her for 8 months. I bought the book, enjoyed reading it, started the method and the pounds melted away. This food is good - try the recipes! Try Marilyn Diamond's "American Vegetarian Cookbook" - those recipes are great! I occasionally eat chicken, fish, and sometimes beef! Who can resist a hamburger just off the grill? Not me. Just skip the bun, eat them with veggies, save the carbs for another meal. Sometimes I cheat, but so what? Birthday parties happen, and I'm going to enjoy! :) If you eat this way 90% of the time, your health will be terrific. I'm now in my mid 40's (that baby of mine is now 18) and my blood pressure and cholesterol numbers are low. This method of eating has stood the test of time for me. I love the salad dressing recipes, almond milk and food combos as much as ever! Try the grapefruit juice salad dressing. Sounds wierd, tastes great! This is by far the healthiest eating plan out there!
