Book Reviews of First Family

Book Review: Captivating and satisfying
Summary: 5 Stars

First Family is David Baldacci's follow-up to Simple Genius. Sean King and Michelle Maxwell are summoned by Pam Dutton to instruct them on their next case. Before they can meet with her, however, they notice two men running from the scene firing their guns. As they investigate the house they notice Pam is dead, but, Willa, her eldest daughter, is missing. Subplots are plenty as Michelle, who is still struggling to come to terms about her mother's death, returns home to be with her father. First Family is a beefy book with twists and turns reminiscent of a roller coaster. Its politics and scandals are so complex that the reader stays in tune with the book from page one, and doesn't blink until the book ends. David Baldacci has once again delivered a novel that will captivate its readers....

I would also highly recommend: S is for Sirens a novel that ranked one of the best this year.

Book Review: Good Book
Summary: 5 Stars

When I bought this book I was unsure if it was something I would enjoy because Baldacci is not an author that I regularly read. From the first chapter I could not put it down, and I found myself up reading late, and then hurrying to get home to finish it. It has been a long time since I enjoyed reading a book this much. I would sit down, and before I realized it I had read a hundred pages.

It is organized well, and uses language that the average person can understand. It is fast paced, and contains sub-plots that are as interesting as the main plot.

I found the characters to be sympathetic, and mutifaceted. I think they were developed very well, and the ordinary person can identify with them.

It was a great read, and I went and bought another Baldacci book because I enjoyed this one so much. If you enjoy books about government, or law, or topics of this nature, you will probably enjoy this book.

Book Review: Audio
Summary: 5 Stars

First Family is an excellent read. It took me several pages to get really involved, but by the 2nd chapter, I was hooked. David Baldacci comes through again with another gripping thriller. Fans will be glad to see Sean and Michelle. There are many threads to this story. Baldacci successfully weaves them together to produce a best seller.

The President's niece was kidnapped. Bypassing the FBI, the First Lady requests Sean King and Michelle Maxwell to find her niece.

When Michelle's mother died, she suspected her father of murdering her.

Many years ago a man's daughter died, and he wants revenge.

I'm reviewing the unabridged audio book. At first, the narrator's voice didn't fit. However, the longer I listened the better it sounded. This is an excellent read. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend The First Family.

Book Review: This is a wonderful author.
Summary: 5 Stars

My mystery book club chose this book to read for March. Everyone in the book club really liked the book. I have read 3 books in this series by the author, the series with Sean and Michelle who are very lively and likeable characters who you can definitely relate to. David Baldacci is now one of my favorite authors and I am a big fan of mysteries. His books are very well written with lots of information about the government agencies he is writing about. He makes you want to turn one chapter after another and then it is the middle of the night and you are still reading, to see what is going to happen next. Thanks for him for writing such a wonderful mystery book for my whole book club to enjoy. Really, most of the time it is about 1/2 and 1/2 with people who like and don't like the book we choose but this month, it was a great and definite that everyone liked it a lot.

Book Review: Nobody does it better!
Summary: 5 Stars

David Baldacci has parked the surviving Camel Club members for a breather and returned to the ex-Secret Service tandem of Michelle and Sean, reaching all the way back to the formula of his first blockbuster by way of including POTUS (here, "Wolfman," more apt that you might think) among his cast of central characters with secrets to be illumined. You think, early on, that you've got the gist of the plot figured out and that surely DB couldn't be that obvious, only to discover, well into the book, that all the seemingly unconnected dots are definitely going to get connected and that what you thought was REALLY going on was barely the half of it.

One doesn't review thrillers by summarizing plots. All I'm trying to tell you is that this is one good read. I got so hooked I read the last 2/3 of the book in one sitting.
