Book Reviews of FingersmithBook Review: AMAZING! Summary: 5 Stars
If I could give this book 10 stars, I would. This book combines all my favorite themes. If you liked the Wilke Collins classic, "The Woman in White," then you'll love this. Of all this book's many virtues, the most powerful is the incredible writing. Nothing is more satisfying to me than a well written book, rich with intense and complex characters, and an intersting plot. This book has it all, along with the best victorian foils of mistaken identity, villains, mad-houses, dark country estates, and London itself which give this book rich texture and detail. The love story is unique and gratifying. You will not be disappointed! I could not put this book down, and am forlorn now that it is finished. (I fear I shall never find another book so wonderful as this!)
Book Review: I've added this one to my top 10 favorite books of all time! Summary: 5 Stars
I have recommended this book to many people, explaining that it is simply one of the best books I have ever read. When they ask what it is about, I say "it is set in late 19th century England and is about two rogues (a young woman and a youngish man) who try and steal a rich young woman's fortune by declaring her mad and having her locked up." To tell more is to give away the delicious plot twists of this absorbing novel. An engaging love story between the two female characters runs throughout, adding an element of humanity and tenderness to the story. Some of the writing is rather dense, and it will not appeal to all readers, but if you love suspense, romance, and jaw dropping plot twists, you will not be disappointed with this one!
Book Review: Sara Waters truly lives up to her name ! Summary: 5 Stars
I thought at first it was pointless and the story seemed to drag on and on. It intrigued me though how they compared her to Dicken's . Then I see why. This story truly lived up from the past books that Sarah wrote.
The book revolves around the life of the two characters Maud and Susan . Maud raised from a rich family and Susan from a poor one . Their destiny intwined when Gentleman made a deal with Maud that he can remove her from her rich upstanding ( because she is unhappy ) .As from Susan's understanding she is to make friends with Maud and make her come with Gentleman so they can deal with all of Maud's riches . Unbeknowst to the two , there's another party involve that Gentleman truly made a bargain to ....
Book Review: The find of the century Summary: 5 Stars
This book was amazingly well developed. The main characters Maud and Susan are strangers at first but by the end of the book, were more related than anyone could ever have imagined. There were so many twists in this book, you could never guess what was going to happen next. Waters describes life in england so beautifully that you could imagine seeing it right in front of you. Although both girls go through a lot, they both get through it because of their love for one another. Love, lust, murder, mystery, excitement, passion, fear and thrill were all involved in this book. i would highly recommend this to anyone. It has so much in this book, that it has alittle of every genre so everyone would love this book as much as i did.
Book Review: Entirely Original, Boldly Inventive, and Monumentally Entertaining. Summary: 5 Stars
Without a doubt, I can say that this ranks within my top 5 fictional novels of all time. It offers an intricate and deep plot, unexpected twists, and unlikely romance, and several truly interesting and compelling characters. Each of these elements is greatly accentuated by Sarah Waters beautiful writing style and utter mastery of the English language. Every sentence seems to be poetic and almost lyrical. I find that I sometimes get ahead of myself when reading it because I am so eagerly awaiting the next paragraph. I don't think any other book has held my attention as strongly or for as long a time as 'Fingersmith' did.
Yes, the book is long, but you'll not be able to put it down once you've begun reading.
