Book Reviews of Finding Fish: A MemoirBook Review: Never Give up on Yourself! Summary: 5 Stars
All I basically have to say about this book is it is simply beautiful. Fisher has done a wonderful job at exposing his hardships during childhood to reveal that miracles still happen. It is miracle that this young man is still alive and doing positve things with his life. Everyone, regardless of age, should read this inspirational book. It chronicles his tumultuous childhood to manhood. The book is page-turner, can't put it down kind of book. Buy it!
Book Review: WINNER OF OUR "OSCAR" AWARD 2002 FOR MOST INSPIRATONAL Summary: 5 Stars
The writing was solid. We were able to see the events in the story. We felt frustrated when the social workers continued to view and review Antwone's case on a superficial level. Obviously,Ms. Pickett was despicable but we disliked Mr. Pickett even more. He allowed, endorsed, cosigned and sometimes, participated in the cruel and destructive behavior exhibited by his wife. The book did have an uplifting message. We highly recommend this book.
Book Review: Heart-wrenching, poignant, powerful Summary: 5 Stars
I saw the movie before reading the book, but as always, the book was better. Antwone Fisher demonstrates the resilience of children, how forgiving they are, how in the face of evil, they triumph over the adults who are supposed to nuture them. His story is not a Hollywood story, but the story of how the foster care system in America has failed. This country should be ashamed at the way foster children are treated.
Book Review: trauma and turbulation Summary: 5 Stars
This is a very well written book, with much emotion behind the story. The trauma and turbulation that this author went through is astounding.I haven't see the movie yet, but will do that very soon. thank you Mr. Fisher Also recommended: Nightmares Echo,Beauty For Ashes and Running With Scissors...all the above books are 5 star+ Danielle Morris, a fan of Memoirs
Book Review: FINDING FISH Summary: 5 Stars
Wow..if you thought the movie was thought provoking..
the book is beyond that!
This book covers Antwone's childhood, where in the movie,
we only saw a taste of it.
This book tells the story of a little boy who beat the odds,
and used his innate ability to survive, extreme verbal, emotional
sexual and physical abuse.
