Book Review: Interesting sketches & photography, relaxing to read, good advice on fashion

This book is part autobiography, part fashion advice and illustrations, and partly advice about maintaining a positive attitude. This book wasn't quite what I expected---I had hoped for some technical info from Christian about how he sews his amazing styles. Although it wasn't what I was expecting, I found myself enthralled with this book and reading it whenever I have some free time. I really like his fashion sketches, and the photography is excellent.
However, my favorite parts of this book are his advice regarding making yourself look good by putting your outfits together with some consideration about what pieces go together well, and how to dress for your body type (such as what not to wear if you have a small bust and bigger hips). In particular, I like his suggestions about spicing up your personal style by pairing things you already own in a new way.
He's very talented at planning, and his suggestions relate to details such as what kind of shoes would look good with what kind of pants. He inspired me to do some closet reorganizing and to consider how to put together outfits that look good, rather than grabbing whatever shirt & pants are handy. There's a box of quick tips about spicing up your wardrobe in the book that I've found very helpful.
The writing style is friendly & easy-to-read, this is a relaxing book, as well as a helpful book. He talks about his life, his career experience, the Project Runway experience, and his thoughts on happiness and succeeding in life. He has a very positive attitude, his personality comes across as friendly and accessible. I found this book thought-provoking as well as enjoyable.
If you saw him on Season 4 of Project Runway and enjoyed his personality and clothing designs, you'll enjoy this book. Also, if you are interested in designer labels, you will like this book----Christian gives lots of recommendations regarding designers (if you can afford high-end fashion) and alternatives for shopping on a limited budget. I like the fact that he was realistic about shopping on a budget, since most of us don't want to spend $500 on a handbag. I also liked the fact that a lot of the budget stores he mentioned are nationwide and easily accessible (such as Payless shoes and Target). Incidentally, shoes by Christian are at Payless, they are really stylish and affordable.
