Book Reviews of Fearless FourteenBook Review: I Loved It!! Summary: 5 Stars
I really enjoyed this installment of Stephanie and life in the Burg. I started reading Plum for the laughs, and then got hooked on the characters. This one had me laughing out loud in several scenes and it showcased my favorite supporting cast members. Not much in the way of romantic angst in this one, which is fine with me. That just gives more page time to the funny stuff. Joe was fantastic, Ranger was more like the early Ranger I enjoy, and Grandma was just the way I like her, a crazy pain-in-the-butt without being too over the top. I love the way Janet Evanovich took a hodgepodge of kooky side characters - some familiar, some new - and made it work. Two words "potato cannon." I was proud of Stephanie in this one. She was not as bumbling as she's been in some of her escapades. This one's inspiring me to pull out some of my earlier Plum novels and do a reread! It was well worth paying the hardcover price!
Book Review: What do you mean, you don't like it?!" Summary: 5 Stars
I've read some of the reviews on "Fearless Fourteen" and I am shocked, to say the least. This book was excellent and it almost beat "High Five" for funniest book in Evanovich's Plum series. I love how Evanovich put the whole gaming craze into this book cause I can relate to seeing relatives getting sucked into the vortex of some MMO. I had been missing Grandma Mazur in the last few books, and she was really show-cased in this book. My only complaint (and this is only cause I'm greedy) is that the books are never long enough. And I really want to know more about Ranger. Yummy! My first love is, of course, Morelli but I'm not sure if Morelli will ever accept the fact that Plum is a natural disaster. ANYWAY, don't read those other reviews giving this book anything less than 5 stars. They don't know what they are talking about. This book is great and you should read it this second!!
Book Review: A good read Summary: 5 Stars
I approached this book with trepidation after reading so many negative reviews. I'm happy to report that I laughed out loud many times throughout the book. No, the sexual tension wasn't there in the same way, but other parts of the story more than filled in for a storyline that hasn't gone anywhere for the last several books. I admit to being a total Ranger fan, but I didn't feel that he was missing in this book, as some have alluded to, rather he was more of a friend. Stephanie gave him some food for thought when she indicated he may need a different direction in pursuing her and I look forward to where that story goes in the next couple of books. If you enjoy a light, funny read, please don't pass this book up. It was well worth the three-week wait to borrow it from the library and I will definitely buy it in paperback to keep my collection complete.
Book Review: Great book! Give it a chance!! Summary: 5 Stars
I don't understand all the negative reviews. FF is the best Plum book written in quite some time. Stephanie has FINALLY shown some growth. She still has some room to grow but this book was a step in the right direction. She understand her limits and doesn't run away when faced with adult issues. All the characters were great and amusing. Joe is supportive, Ranger is a great mentor to Steph, and the Plum family is all there (except Val and Kloughn). We even get some appearances from our old Burg favorites. Mooner and the potato launcher will have you on the floor laughing. Lula is Lula! Plus Janet gave us some great new characters that will give you plenty of laughs.
The mystery was light, as always with a JE book, and the focus was on the characters. Please ignore the negative reviews and read FF with an open mind.
Book Review: Fearless Fourteen is Fulfillingly Funny Summary: 5 Stars
Stephanie & Morelli are stuck playing mommy & daddy to teenage internet gamer, Zook, who could possibly be Morelli's son.
After getting bailed out of jail, Zook's mom, Loretta, is kidnapped by one of the guys that helped her brother rob a bank 10 years prior. The accomplice hopes to gain possession of the entire 9 million by killing two of the other partners.
Wedding plans are being made...
no Stephanie has not chosen Morelli or Ranger. Tank, one of Ranger's men, woke up one morning and found himself engaged to Stephanie's friend, Lula. Tank doesn't want to get married but Lula is really getting into the planning of the unexpected event. (Personally, I think it's going to very hard to turn the ex ho' into a housewife.)
Check out Janet Evanovich's current book, you'll be glad you did.
