Book Reviews of Fearless Fourteen (Stephanie Plum, No. 14) (Stephanie Plum Novels)

Book Review: Come Back, Janet!
Summary: 2 Stars

I hope that Janet isn't fading. The Stephanie Plum books are usually consistently hilarious and/or suspenseful. This one dragged a bit--mercifully it's short. Funny sometimes, but not up to standard

Book Review: I cringe for Janet Evanovich. Fearless Fourteen is just that bad
Summary: 1 Stars

I've been a huge fan of the Stephanie Plum series and I've read all 15 books in order. The first 4 are absolutely hilarious. While books 5 through 13 aren't quite as funny, they're fun and entertaining nonetheless.

Fearless Fourteen marks the turning point where a once great series goes horribly wrong. Simply put, Fearless Fourteen is flat, boring, and not at all entertaining. Since I liked the first 13 Stephanie Plum books, I initially wrote off the slip with book 14 as an anomaly. But after reading Finger Lickin' Fifteen (which reads like a random compilation of lines and plot devices lifted directly from the earlier books), I'm realizing Fearless Fourteen was not an anomaly and that the series has just gone BAD. I really wish I'd stopped at 13.

I fully realize that Janet Evanovich's books aren't meant to be great literature. In fact, the reason I look forward to reading her books is that she typically does silly and fluffy so incredibly well. But Fearless Fourteen and Finger Lickin' Fifteen are so boring and repetitive, I have to wonder if Janet Evanovich even wrote them herself. Way to ruin a franchise.

Book Review: "you just keep getting in deeper and deeper until you want to throw up"
Summary: 1 Stars

I agree completely with Cherise Everhard. As a loyal reader of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, I was looking forward to Fearless Fourteen. I tolerated Mooner in the earlier books and I'm not sure her fan base can relate to him or the other characters in Fearless. This book is exhaustingly stupid. She seems to be going for a younger, sophomoric, drug induced target audience. Somewhere around book #11, the series should have changed to Stephanie Plum Jr. book series. I'm not sure Janet Evanovich wrote this book, not the one we've known. Shame on me for reading this book and shame on Evanovich for writing it! As for me, Forget Fifteen, Sayonara Sixteen. I'm done!

Book Review: Lousy customer service
Summary: 1 Stars

Bought this for my daughter for Xmas. Unfortunately the autghor has written several new books in the series and I ordered the wrong one. Tried to contact seller thru Amazon to no avail. The seller did contact me asking for the order number which I provided. That is the last I heard. All I wanted to do was exchange this tome for the next in the series but I cannot get the seller to respond.

Talk about phoning it in. Ms. Evanovich has entertained me for years with her laugh-out-loud funny Stephanie Plum stories. She's either running out of material, lost her sense of humor, or forgot how to write clever, witty, and intricate plots. Instead of entertaining me, this book just made me angry and disappointed.
