Get a cup of coffee and cozy up while Sandi Patty ministers to your soul. She knows what it's like to fall forward. Years ago, she was involved in an unhappy marriage, and instead of seeking help, she faltered, then stumbled, then fell into an extramarital affair which ended her marriage and left her ministry in ruins.
But Sandi made a decision to falll forward in repentance in her Father's arms. She passes on some great counsel learned from scripture and from experience. Find some safe friends who will love you and accept you as you are and will pray with you as you struggle through the rock bottom areas of life. She calls these people "Jesus with skin on."
She also recommends memorizing and repeating certain scriptures about God's unconditional love and how there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).
She talks about actively serving and helping others even while you are striving toward your own goals for wholeness and healing. She uses the Wizard of Oz as an illustration: Even while Dorothy was searching for home, she helped the people she met along her path who also needed encouragement to find a brain, a heart, and courage.
There are study questions and recommended books at the end of the book. This is a book you'll want to give to someone who is going through a painful divorce or is trying to get back to God after a fall.

In the early 1990's, Sandi Patty fell head-first into an affair, a divorce, and a 10-year career hiatus. Yet in the past few years, Sandi's career has once again taken off as she has toured the country, singing in every venue from performing arts centers to state fairgrounds. Sandi has been busy learning how to move on, how to learn from her mistakes, and how to let the Lord use her in any circumstance. That is the subject of this book.
Falling Forward welcomes us into Sandi's world of big families, busy tour schedules, conversations with women around the country, and personal conversations with God. It doesn't tell people how to live. But it does show God's amazing creativity in using broken people to glorify him.
