Book Reviews of Fairy Houses (The Fairy Houses Series)

Book Review: Beauty and Brains make this book a Gem
Summary: 5 Stars

At first I was dazzled by the lushly colored drawings but then I became aware of how interactive the story was. I could imagine how a child would respond to the possiblities offered in this sweet story. The excitment of finding fairy houses and then actually building one. With each visit to the fairy house a new character from the woodland community made their appearance and offered new interest.

As a teacher, I think this book holds many creative ideas for science projects, as well as the potential for many other lessons in the classroom. It should awaken the child to their environment and stimulate an interest in investigation.

This is a charming book, well written and beautifully illustrated. I would highly recommend this book to parents and teachers.

Book Review: With warm, full-color artwork of forests and butterflies
Summary: 5 Stars

Tracy Kane's Fairy Houses is an enchanting children's picturebook that answers the question, "What would happen if you built a house for fairies to live in? Would they come to visit?" Young Kristin is determined to build a fairy house, and Nature itself becomes involved in the construction. The warm, full-color artwork of forests and butterflies give the pages the feel of the outdoors, but perhaps the highlight of the story is the set of general instructions that children can follow to build fairy houses of their own: "You should only use natural materials to build the house. Dry grasses, pebbles, sticks, shells, feathers, seaweed, pinecones and nuts are just some of the materials you can use."

Book Review: fabulous book that incourages your imagination
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a fabulous book for children. It gets you out of the house an out in the yard searching for the perfect materials for fairy houses. All natural, all having been discarded by nature already. The perfect sticks, seeds, fallen leaves or maybe some shells at the beach. All free and always available no matter what time of year...unless you do a better job than I getting your yard ready for winter. And then you take your materials and build a perfect house to leave for the fairies. This has been such a fun activity with our grandchildren. When I recently was invited to a baby shower with the theme of "bring your favorite childrens book" it was the first book I thought of to order.

Book Review: Fairy Houses
Summary: 5 Stars

Fairy Houses is an inspiration! Author and illustrator, Tracy Kane, has built in this book a magical world that glows and twinkles. Encouraging children to take an active part in nature, the book suggests how each of us might take found objects like twigs, a feather, perhaps some seashells, and setting them up against a tree or beside a brook can create a magical imaginary world that fairies visit when we are not looking. Kids of all ages can delight in this material, the stuff of the sweetest of our dreams. Fairy Houses is filled with imagination, beauty, fantasy and hope.

Book Review: Fairy Houses
Summary: 5 Stars

My 5 year old son loved the concept of this book. His Grandfather has a cabin in the Colorado Mountains and for an activity, while everyone else was fishing, we took my 3 year old neice and started our own adventure. We found a nice place to make our house and all the thing to construct it. It gave the kids over an hour of creative play and alot of new conversation. Since then, my son and I have made a Fairy House at a lake near our home. This is not just a book and a good story, but a whole adventure of your own choosing. I bought another book for my neice too!
